Dear Principals, teachers of APMOPS 2022,

We apologise unreservedly for all the inconvenience caused during the unfortunate incident
of server outage that affected participants for the online APMOPS Round 1 on 7th April 2022.
The incident resulted in participants not being able to login and for those who managed to
login to the system and did the competition, their results were not captured. We had no
choice but to cancel the proceeding of the APMOPS Round 1 competition. We also
apologise for not being able to attend to your calls due to the escalation of phone queries
that day.

We will certainly build in the necessary checks and balances and work with the relevant
parties to provide a more stable and reliable system for subsequent editions of the
competition.

We have prepared a letter for the parents of affected students, for your use if necessary.

We understand that many of your students have prepared very hard for the APMOPS.
Therefore, we are arranging a makeup round of the APMOPS Round 1 on 19th May 2022,
Thursday. The makeup session will be a pencil and paper session. The format of the paper
remains the same but the duration of the paper will be reduced to 1 hour (please refer to
the https://apmops.hci.edu.sg/details/smops for more details).

You may start the competition at your convenience on 19th May 2022, anytime from 1pm to 3pm.
The participants should take the competition under test conditions. We will email the password
protected question and answer key to you one week before the competition date. The password will
be given to you separately. Please assist to print out the question papers and safe keep till the
competition day. Please collect and destroy all the question papers after the competition. Kindly
assign a marker to mark the answer scripts and email the results an excel worksheet format to me.
We will process the results and awards for the students.

The results of the competition will be announced on the online portal

(https://registration.hci.hk.cn/portal/school-login#/) by end May 2022. Students will also be
able to view and download their e-cert from the portal using the userid and password
previously given for the online competition.
