PTAC Wireless Peripheral Installation Instructions

The following instructions are for typical installation of Amana brand

communicating antenna and door sensor. The instructions will
describe the proper installation of each peripheral item.
The DT01A – Wireless antenna must be
installed to allow operation of either the DS01E
(Thermostat) or the DD01E (combination door
switch and motion detector)

Preparation for Installation

1. Disconnect the power to the unit by unplugging the
power cord at the wall outlet.
2. Remove the front cabinet from the chassis by tilting
the bottom of the front forward and lifting slightly up
and forward.
Installation
1. Remove the antenna cable and route through the
opening in the bottom of the antenna housing (see right)
2. Mount the housing with the two included screws (as
shown in the image to the right) with the Amana logo in
the lower right hand corner
Routing of cable
3. Plug the wire harness from the antenna into the
connector on the control board to the right of the master
switch. (see below) Caution do not bend or break the
wires when you connect the cable to the PTAC
Switch Connector

Screws Logo
Installation
4. Restore power to the PTAC unit.
5. Reinstall the front polymer cover.
The DD01E – Door Switch/Motion Detector
with magnet holder, will communicate with
the DT01A, installed on the PTAC unit. It will
verify occupancy via the motion detection
and communicate to the DT01A to enter into
occupied state or unoccupied/set beck
status. It will work in concert with both the
DT01A and DS01E and DL01E – DigiSmart
communication platform.
Installation
1. Remove the motion sensor from the mounting
plate by pulling the unit apart (see right)
2. Place the mounting plate on the door trim
directly above the door. Mount the unit as low
as possible on the door frame to be as close
to the door as possible without interfering with
the opening or closing action (choose a
location that will provide good coverage of the
PIR for motion into the room) Do not attach
the Motion Sensor to the mounting
plate until after the BINDING
PROCESS.
3. Install two AA batteries( included) Into the
terminals marked “+” & “-” for polarity. (See
below)
4. DD01E can be hardwired for power (See full
installation instructions for more info)
Installation of Magnet Holder and/or
Spacers

1. Mount the door magnet holder

on the front (inside of the room)
of the door where it will be as
close as possible to the bottom
of the motion sensor but no
more than 1/8” from the bottom
center of the DD01E when the
door is closed (see lower right)
2. Select the correct slot in the
magnet holder (there are three
slots – see images to the right)
to match up the lines on the
bottom of the motion sensor
with the line the magnet is
inserted into. (see lower right
image)
3. Screw in place with the two
provided screws. Open and
close the door to ensure the
magnet holder and motion
sensor do not interfere with the
door’s normal operation.
4. The provided spacers may be
needed to align the magnet
bucket and motion sensor
properly. (See top image)
5. After the binding process,
attach the DD01E motion
sensor to the mounting plate
on the door frame.
6. Apply the tamper screws to
each side of the DD01E to
prevent tampering. (See
bottom image)
The DS01E – Wireless Thermostat will
communicate with the DT01A, installed on the
PTAC unit to control the mode and
temperature setting of the PTAC unit. It will
work in concert with the DD01E – Door switch
and motion detector and DL01E– DigiSmart
DigiLink.
Installation
1. Select a mounting location about five feet above the
floor, on an inside wall, out of direct sunlight and sources
of radiant heat.
2. Remove the thermostat from the mounting plate by
pulling the unit apart (see right)
3. Place the mounting plate against the wall at the desired
location and mark the placement of the holes. Drill a
3/16” hole in wall or tap plastic anchors into drywall.
Screw mounting plate to the wall. (See below) Do not
attach the thermostat to the mounting plate until
after the BINDING PROCESS.
4. Install four AA batteries( included) Into the terminals
marked “+” & “-” for polarity. (See below)
5. The DS01E can be hard wired for power. (See full
installation instructions for more info)
5. After the binding process,
attach the DS01E thermostat to
the mounting plate on the wall.
6. Apply the tamper screws to the
bottom of the DS01E to prevent
tampering.
How to bind the DS01E and DD01E devices to the Amana PTAC unit

1. Take both the DS01E

thermostat and DD01E
motion sensor to the PTAC
control board area.

2. Press and hold the Off

button on the PTAC control
board for about 4 seconds.

3. A “L” will appear on the

PTAC control board display.
Release the Off button.
4. Next, press and release the small white
buttons on the back of each device (see
photos to the right)
5. A right angle symbol will
appear next to the “L” on
the PTAC control board
display once the DS01E
motion sensor is bound to
the PTAC unit.
.

6. An equal sign will appear

next to the “L” on the
PTAC control board
display once the DD01E
motion sensor is bound to
the PTAC unit.
7. Press the Off button on the
PTAC control board to complete
the binding process.

8. Replace the devices back to

their mounting brackets
