Tăng Ngọc Bình_2192619 This semester I have an opportunity to spend fifteen weeks on Phonetics and Phonology subject. It is a wonderful subject helping me to accumulate a lot of useful knowledge and find its practical applicability in carrying out everyday conversations. Before the course, honestly, I was confident in my English pronunciation and communication. However, when I received the instructor's comments for my first recording, I found that it was not good. I realized that I had a little trouble with pronunciation and speaking naturally. According to Ms. Chau's feedbacks for my first recording, I have three troubles with it. My pronunciation has a few minor mispronunciations; my speaking speed is a little slow, and I did not use sound linking. On the other hand, my lecturer gave me some compliments, and I am glad to hear it because I realize my pronunciation is not terrible. Nevertheless, I am not arrogant with that, and I exactly see it as encouragement. I believe that I have improved a large amount of my pronunciation, and it becomes more natural. When I received Ms. Chau's feedback, I have practiced a lot. For instance, I have a problem with the mispronunciation of "colleagues, and then I practiced it day by day. Finally, I would like to thank Ms. Chau who is in charge of teaching this subject. I feel very grateful for all the lessons that Ms. Chau taught. Phonetics and Phonology help me to understand how to pronounce a word in phonetic charts. Furthermore, after learning this course, I know how to stress, rise and fall intonation in a sentence, and make the conservation more natural.
