FIN-tastic Year
Before even stepping foot into college, I have already gained so much knowledge about teaching and getting started on this chapter of my life. I have been exposed to

many learning styles, how to create lesson plans, the theories that analyze specifics, and many more relevant ideas. It has confirmed that being an elementary school teacher is

the career path I would want to pursue.

As far as the VTfT part, it was a pleasure getting to know other students who are passionate about education and to see what they contributed. I want to thank Mrs.

Hurst for guiding us through this challenging year. Additionally, this was about valuable resources. Some of the theories that were included were from Kohlberg, Maslow, Purkey,

and Piaget. It was a great way to prepare myself to meet the needs of the students I may come across in the future by knowing each explained reference on child development

and accommodations. Also, Special Education may not be directly the setting for every student I have, but it is significant to know about the IEPs to be inclusive and meet the

needs of those students who have them. When you have a class, there will be a diverse group each time. As a teacher, you should be able to recognize what it takes and lead

those who come bound by the barriers of learning.

Specifically in my internship at Corporate Landing Elementary School, there was such a difference in hearing information and being able to apply it and see it into

action. Although I have experienced this through volunteering at my church, it was in a regular school building and a classroom assigned to one grade. My cooperating teacher

and her students were excellent to work with and I had enjoyed being a part of their classroom for a while. It gave me a new perspective and ways to adapt or maybe organize

my future classroom. There was a focus on positive behavior. I had the opportunity to create a learning plan and execute it for their measurement unit in math. I feel that one of

the hardest parts was estimating the timing/pacing when creating the lesson for a day. As more practice and experiences are followed through, I can ensure it will become better

to figure out. Another huge takeaway was that small group stations are something that I would like to use for practice on a skill or to catch up on makeup work. Lastly, the most

effective thing to incorporate would be to establish a daily routine to benefit both the teacher and the students.

To conclude, my plans to be a future teacher remain. However, I am not sure which college I would select yet. Even though I am a junior this year I would like to

continue following this path and take the course again during my senior year. I can obtain more to have a greater understanding and excitement. I cannot express how much this

has helped for a headstart on the profession of my choice. I will forever be grateful and remember this journey of teaching that starts here.
