The Role
Provide support to Shell’s OUs by updating the drawings through our 2D and 3D drawing
management systems by editing existing drawings (As Built) to incorporate red lined corrections,
drawings & recreate PIDs from vendor schematics or hand sketches,etc..
Candidate primarily works on AutoCAD/Microstaton Tools only.

The role is expected to be the expert in AutoCAD/Mirostation with brief knowledge as Piping
designer and closely engage with an OU in updating the technical specification & suggest
improvement solutions for improving the overall quality of work. Also provide training and
guidance to other drafters while replicating best practices from stakeholders and partner
organizations.

Principal Accountabilities
Act as Subject Matter Expert for Mechanical discipline drawings in understanding the type of
drawings, kind of modification requested for PID creation from vendor schematics
Wider knowledge in interpreting the different type of RLMs from PID,PFD,PEFS, UFD,
UEFS,HAC,Structural, Iso-metric, Plot plans, Plant Layouts, Sectional diagram, vendor
schematics, General Arrangements drawings,etc.
Strong Knowlegde in ASME B31.3 piping Standards in incorporating drawing specifications
during drafting process.
Understanding/updating the Electrical & Instrumentation discipline drawings as recommended
by site Markups/Vendor schematics.
Understanding/updating the EHT related drawings like Isometric drawings, Panel Schedule,
Cable Summary, Cable Schedule, One Line Diagram, Grounding Layout, Cable Routing Layout,
Plot Plan layout .
Understanding/updating the in Electrical designing of Cable trays, Junction Boxes, harness
routings, Plot plan understanding, Cable calculation.
Understanding/updating the Instrumentation discipline drawing drafting/designing like Hook-up
drawings, Loop Drawings, Instrumentation wiring, Block drawings, JB drawings, Cable
Schedule, Cable routing, Instrument Location drawings, F&G Layouts, control room drawings.
Preparation & Checking of MTO.
Review of vendor drawings including control system wiring and panel drawings all other
interfaces for design deliverables.
Ability to train and onboard new joiners to the team, driving KT sessions and onboarding to
Project work flow is required.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation is a must

The role primarily involves the remote support to the Shell operating units/sites in the drawing
management & updates.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education/Experience:

Mechanical/Industrial/ Piping/Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering Degree/Diploma degree


with 3 to 5 plus years of work experience in :-
Piping engineering, design & selection of piping components, comprehending, creating &
updating the drawings viz. P&IDs, Piping Isometrics, 3D drawings, piping layouts, Plot Plan etc.,
in in 2D & 3D drawing & drafting tool
Knowledge of Piping engineering, specifications, piping components and standards is the must.
Experience in drafting/designing of Electrical/instrumentation discipline drawings is must.
Good knowledge of piping materials, codes and standards.
Oil & Gas/Petrochemical Industry - operating assets and/or a varied range of brownfield
projects.
Behavioral Competences:

Excellent communication skills and quick learner. Be a good team player. Ability to prioritize and
ensure delivery of priorities for the area of responsibility. Flexible and adaptable to change, with
track record of demonstrating initiative, analytical capabilities and problem solving.
Ability to apply engineering best practices, codes, and standards to identify issues, recommend
improvements, and implement solutions.
Excellent stakeholder management with business interface exposure
Strong interpersonal leadership skills are critical due to the requirement for effective
communication of complex issues across multiple offices and teams.
Expertise in pipe modeling and facility layouts.

Job Purpose

Provide support to Shell’s OUs by drafting / detailing the drawings through tools such as
Auto-Cad / Raster cad/ PDMS/ AVEVA 3D

overall quality of work. Also provide training and support to other drafters while replicating best
practices from stakeholders and partner organizations.

Principal Accountabilities

Providing design and technical support for the layout, design, supporting and specification of
piping
Designing and drafting of PEI (Pressure Equipment Integrity), MOC (Management of Change)
and Surveillance activity updates in 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (PDMS/E3D) drawing environments
Read and comprehend general technical drawings of the process and facilities like PEFS
(Process Engineering Flow Scheme) / P&ID, PFD (Process flow diagram), EFD (Engineering
flow diagram), Corrosion loop drawing, Piping isometric drawing and GA (General arrangement
drawing)
Hands on experience in creating Corrosion loop drawings from scratch with the help of P&ID
and Piping isometric drawings.
Understand the relation between corrosion loop and corrosion point is essential.
Prepare and verify designs on site including creation of tie-in drawings
Understand and interpret the corrections and redline mark ups done in the drawings.
Capable of using Raster Cad tool for rastering the tiff image file related to drawing updations.
Knowledge and experience on plant layouts, incorporate the corrections and re-draw using 2D
tools, Vendor drawings updation.
Providing project management skills including man-hour estimating, budget control and
scheduling for new scope of work
Establishing good working relationships and communication with Operations lead, Team lead,
clients, and other team members to coordinate.
Understand the completeness and consistency across the entire project for improving quality
and reducing rework

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education/Experience:

Mechanical/ Piping Engineering Degree/ Diploma with at 3-5/5-8 years of work experience in Oil
& Gas/Petrochemical Industry.

Experience in Brownfield projects in updating drawings for Management of change(MOC),


Pressure Equipment Integrity(PEI) and Surveillance department.
Familiar with international codes, standards, recommended practices, and knowledge level in
Shell DEP will be added advantageous.
Piping engineering, design & selection of piping components, comprehending, creating &
updating the drawings viz. P&IDs, Piping Isometrics, 3D drawings, piping layouts, Plot Plan etc.,
in in 2D & 3D in design, drafting & engineering firms/ consultancy firms/ plant
environments/industry past the professional degree/diploma.
Acting as interface with other disciplines to overcome design / drafting issues
Updating all the PEI, MOC and Surveillance document for drawing updates.
Review and prepare piping design deliverables (i.e. Bill of Material, Isometrics, Corrosion loop
and Piping GA Drawings)
Highly Preferred skills are:

A strong knowledge and background on Mechanical / piping detail engineering is required.

The role is expected to be the expert in AVEVA E3D/3D modeler role and closely engage with
OU in updating the technical specification & suggest improvement solutions for improving the
overall quality of work. Also collaborate and work as a team and replicate best practices from

Principal Accountabilities

Strong understand of fundamentals of mechanical and piping, electrical, instrumentation, civil


structural, discipline required for Plant 3D model creation

Proficiency in AVEVA E3D modeling with understand of drafting and quality check process.

Read & comprehend the various technical drawings of the process & facilities like P&IDs (Piping
& Instrumentation Diagram), PFDs (Process Flow Diagram) and disciplinary drawings electrical,
instrumentation, civil structural, mechanical, and piping.

Creating 3D model using AVEVA E3D tool in different modules like mechanical and piping,
electrical, instrumentation, civil structural.

Experience in converting laser scan files to intelligent AVEVA E3D model.

Understand and interpret the corrections & redline mark ups done in the drawings and E2E
knowledge in As-built process.

Troubleshoot the modeling related errors & implement solution on database related to admin
works can be added advantage.

3D model, reports and 2D drawing generations, handling of review tools such as Navisworks
freedom/ manager, smart plant review.

Understand the completeness and consistency across the entire project for improving quality
and reducing rework.

Basic knowledge / experience in AVEVA administration can be an added advantage.

Experience catalogue creation for pipe components, instruments and sp. components.

Knowledge / experience in AVEVA P&ID can be an added advantage.

greenfield/brownfield projects.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in 3D modelling in AVEVA 3D modeler.

Mechanical/ Electrical/ instrumentation / Civil engineering, design & selection of piping


components, comprehending, creating & updating the drawings / 3D models of technical
disciplinary drawings viz. P&IDs, Plot Plan etc., in 2D drafting & 3D modelling tool such as
Auto-cad, PDMS & E3D respectively in modelling, drafting & engineering firms/ consultancy
firms/ plant environments/industry past the professional degree/diploma.

Knowledge on AVEVA P&ID can be added advantage.

Reviewing all the process documents.

Review and prepare disciplinary design deliverables (i.e., Bill of Material, Isometrics and Piping
GA Drawings, electrical design drawings such as Cable Block Diagrams, general equipment
layouts, Cable Routing layout, piping layouts, foundation, and structures).
