He later issued a statement that read: “I

heard the news about the life changing
injury that constable Aloke Aich sustained
after being struck on his right eye, by a
cricket ball that I hit in the IPL match against
the KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) on May 9,
2015 at Eden Gardens. I wish this was not
true! The incident and its ramifications have
been terrible. I am sorry for Mr Aich’s
irreversible loss and wish him the best
recovery possible. My thoughts and prayers
will be with Mr Aich CONSTANTLY. Best
Wishes, David Miller.”

Aich is being treated at the CMRI hospital in

Kolkata with the city police bearing all his
medical expenses. But with his right eye
gone, he and his family are staring at an
uncertain future.

Saturday, a 10-year boy got injured when he
was struck by a ball that was hit by Miller,
who was practising his shots near the
boundary rope ahead of the Chennai Super

who had come all the way from Bhopal to
watch the match, fainted and was taken to a
hospital for X-ray and other tests. However,
the injury was minor and he was released
from the hospital after half-and-hour.
