Weight Training - Squats

Objectives:
Motor: Participates in a variety of strength- and endurance-fitness activities such as
weight or resistance training. (S3.M4.7)
Cognitive: Independently uses physical activity and exercise equipment appropriately
and safely. (S4.M7.7)
Affective: Provides encouragement and feed- back to peers without prompting from the
teacher. (S4.M3.7)

Teacher Objectives:
TTWBAT maintain a safe environment by being aware of all students in the weight
room.

TTWBT demonstrate correct form of all muscle movements to the students while giving
feedback.

Equipment:
Weight room
Barbell
Plate Weights
Bench

Safety:
Make sure there is always a spotter present for heavy lifts.
Keep equipment in an organized manner.
Be cautious when moving weights around the room so that we are not hitting others with
equipment or crushing fingers.

Lesson:
Walk class from the school building down to the gym.

Warm-up Stretches

Allow students to get into their groups of 3 at each rack.

Go over the correct form of a squat.


1st Workout:
Student 1: Squats (Sets of 10,8,6,4,2) *Adding Weight*
Student 2: Spotting
Student 3: Lunges w/ Weight (5 sets of 10)

2nd Workout:
Student 1: Barbell Calf Raises (4 sets of 15) *Adding Weight*
Student 2: Bench Step Ups (4 sets of 10)
Student 3: Weighted Squat Jumps (4 sets of 10)

3rd Workout:
All Students: 100 Abs
50 Crunches
30 Mcgills (15 Each Leg)
20 Toes Touches

If time is left over, students will have a choice of Badminton, Volleyball, or Basketball
and/or walk around the gym floor for the remainder of the class.

Have students dress out and get ready to leave.
