The two positions she held were both long-term; a second- grade classroom and my first-grade classroom, When | met Amy prior to my leave, | noticed her kind-hearted attitude toward teaching and her eagerness to lear about my new students and every day classroom routines. She was able to meet with me over the summer to ensure understanding of curriculum, assessments, and overall structure of my assroom. She asked questions to assure preparedness for her time in my.room. It was evident that she sought to do her best and gather valuable teaching experience while learning all she could about my now students. ‘Amy implemented many different teaching techniques and strategies during her time in first grade. | learned about the supplemental behavior management techniques implemented by Amy during my leave, It is evident that her approach on focusing on positive reinforcement meshed well with my current behavior management system. While talking with Amy in the wake of my return, it was clear that she has built a positive relationship with my students through her caring personality. She informed me about student information, struggles, and successes during her time in my classroom. She did so ina professional and confidential manner. So much so, that she was able to take the lead during our parent- teacher conferences.
