Theodor Schwann

-The German biologist Theodor Schwann (1810-1882)

is a founder of cell theory.

-His most significant contribution to biology is considered

to be the extension of cell theory to animals

-The classical cell theory was proposed by Theodor Schwann

in 1839. There are three parts to thus theory. The first part

states that all organisms are made of cell. The second part

states that cell are the basic units of life.

-Theodor Schwann was an anatomist and physiologist who is

best known for developing the cell doctrine that all living things

are composed of cells. He established that the cell is the basic

unit of all living things.

Matthias Jakob Schleinden

-Matthias Jakob Schleinden was a German Botanist and

co-founder of cell theory.

-In 1838 Schleinden defined the cell as the basic unit of plant

structure, and a year later Schwann defined the cell as the

basic unit of animal structure.

-In 1838, Matthias Schleinden, a German botanist, concluded

that all plant tissues are composed of cellsand that an embryonic

plant arose from a single cell. He declared that the cell is the basic

building block of all plant matter

-Both Schleinden and Schwann studied cell theory and phytogenesis,

the origin and development history of plants.
