1. Universalism vs. Particularism
Universalism means that everybody is treated as subject to the same
rules. Particularism, on the contrary, means that some people are more
equal than others.
2. Individualism vs. Communitarianism strengthens the idea that each person progresses
through his own efforts, based on dedication, focus, effort, and the personal decisions that are
made. Community confirms that personal achievements come from shared knowledge, common
values, and mutual support.
3. Specific vs Diffuse
Specific is more direct and on the point. Diffuse is indirect and ambiguous communication. It
believes that objectives can be achieved better when relationships are strong or when group of
people work together.
4. Neutral vs Emotional
A neutral culture is a culture in which emotions are held in check whereas an emotional culture
is a culture in which emotions are expressed openly and naturally. ... In emotional cultures,
people often smile, talk loudly when excited, and greet each other with enthusiasm.
5. Achievement v/s Ascription
In an achievement culture, people are accorded status based on how well they perform their
functions. In an ascription culture, status is based on who or what a person is.
6. Sequential time vs Synchronous time
In sequential time, you see time as a line with events happening one after the other in
chronological order while in synchronous time, you see time as a cycle that repeats itself over
and over again
7. International direction vs Outer direction
Internal mechanistic pertains to people who think that they can control the environment in order
to achieve their goal. While outer mechanistic refers to people who work within their
environment to achieve their goals.
