Condenser Area Required for low BP solvent (MDC)

Assumptions:

1. Reactor dimensions for 6.4 KL capacity is as per GMM catalogue.

2. We have designed for worst case scenario i.e. with the low boiling point solvent
(MDC BP-39.5 ⁰C).
3. Occupancy considered is 70% constant. As distillation will be progressed,
occupancy goes down and area required will be also less.
4. General thumb rule for (primary Condenser = reactor jacket area X 1.5) and
(secondary condenser = 0.3 X Primary condenser)
5. Following calculation is for worst case scenario and requirement will be 75 % of
area in case of water.
