MATERIAL STORAGE & HANDLING 5.1 Materials receiving, handling, storage, preservation and issuance of materials should be as per the applicable procedures. 5.2 Donot remove rust preservative fom the tray. 5.3 Upon delivery of materials at job site, PCC1 material control and quality control personnel should conduct the following material inspection as a minimum. © Verification against delivery note or packing list © Prepare material receiving reports, overage / shortage damage reports, © Verify that all parts are available for the instalation of trays. 54 Tray parts and hardware shall be stored in such a way that no damage or loss occurs. Lighting Sufficient lighting and ventilation shall be provided at all working levels prior to commence any activity inside the column. Sufficient air movers should be provided to cool down top level of column. (if required) Lighting and air mover’s connection should be positioned in such a manner that it ‘would not cause tripping hazard. Lighting equipments inside the column should be of 24V DC. 7. PREPARATION WORKS 7.4 Receiving of Materials Upon receiving or material from JGCS, Material control group shall inspect the ‘materials as per packing lists provided by vendor and contractor. Material Control Supervisor shall verify conformance of received materials to vendor drawings. Any overage, shortage and/or damage on the equipments parts of missing parts shall be reported to the contractor. Installation procedure will resume only after the problem is rectified and/or given the go signal by JGCS. 7.2. Transportation of Parts & Materials to Storage Arca at Site Material sorting before transportation to job site, All materials shall labeled for easier identification during installation time. Small parts such as bolts, nuts, washers, clamps, etc. shall be sorted and stored in the container with clearly labeled tags for easier identification. Site storage area for the parts & materials must be elevated ftom the ground, must be located adjacent to its corresponding equipment. Area must by clean and dry always. Barricades and warning signs shall be placed around the storage area to prevent unauthorized entrants from going in to the storage area. Materials shall be loaded to boom truck and unloaded to their corresponding locations by means of manual lifting or crane, Good lifting practices shall be observed when loading and unloading of parts from and to the transporter. No: WV3160-001-C-112 7.3, Equipment Preparation (External) 14 © Preparation of external scaffolding ( if required) for the access to manhole if no plateform, © Equipment that require internal installation works shal! be prepared. © Designated man ways, man holes, platform and ladders shall be checked and accessibility conditions shall be evaluated for safe access © Ensure that platforms and ladders on the equipment area have been inspected. Working platforms and handrails shall be covered with plywood or « plastic sheet. © Additional platforms and/ or scaffolding shall be placed on designated location if necessary. © Handrails may be modified to give access for the materials and shall be returned to its original state after internal works for the equipment is done. © For pressurized, or nitrogen purged equipments, pressure shall be released and left open for 24 hours prior to manhole opening. © Opening of manholes shall be done. Manholes shall be opened with the consent and supervision of JGCS site representative. Installation supervisor shall determine which manhole and/or flange needs to be opened. © Manhole flange shall protect by a layer of sheet gasket or duct tape than plywood. it shall be not contact with water also to avoi rusty or pitting on the serration area. All bottom nozzle shall be cover by solid protection to avoid dust, water, falling objiect in to it. specially the wutex breaker area.Generator sets shall be set and placed adjacent or near the equipment. © Ventilation blowers (inlet and outlet) shall be strategically placed on the opened ‘manholes. Supervisor shall determine the locations of the ventilation blowers. © Blowers shall be turned on for 12 hours or left overnight to ventilate the equipment. © After ventilating the equipment, Authorized gas tester shall test the oxygen level and other gas levels in the equipment. If ever the equipment fails, ventilation of the equipment shall continue, other manholes or flanges shall be opened until next testing. After the equipment passed the ges tests, supervisor and or work leader shall apply for confined space entry permit. All test results shall be recorded and included in the permit signed by the gas tester. ‘© Ensure that the necessary warning signs, tally boards, etc. are placed. Personnel Preparation © Ensure that all personnel (workers, riggers, supervisors, safety offices, inspection, etc.) involved in the task are competent and has undergone “Confined Space Entry Training” and “Work at Heights Training” by the JGCS © All personnel must have the appropriate PPE for the task. Radio communications shall be provided to workers going inside equipment. Flashlights shall be provided as back up lighting incase of power failures. © Ensure that the designed Entry Supervisor is trained and well informed with the task at hand. © Emergency rescue personnel shall be present at times when workers are within the confined space and ensure that rescue equipments are working and available all the time. No: W3160-001-0-112 REV-1 © Emergency rescue personnel and safety offices shall be invited to check and investigate the inside of the equipment and familiarize with its surroundings and identify hazards and to have an idea for ¢ good rescue plan if ever an accident happens. ‘© Supervisor shall conduct STARRT and ensure that all personnel have understood the task to be done. ‘© Supervisor or safety officer shall ensure that communication devices, hand powered tools, ventilation and lighting are working properly before proceeding to work. Look out- Tag-out system shall be observed. © Supervisors and Safety officers shall inform and coordinate with other subcontractors within the area. 7.5 Preparation of Lifting Devices © Lifting area shall be barricaded. Ground must be leveled and compacted(by JGCS). Additional ground supports shall be placed, such as steel plates and outrigger pads © Location for the lifting devices such as winch-pulleys or cranes shall be prepared, Lifting supervisor shall determine the locations and lifting method. © Ensure that all lifting gears are in good condition, inspected and certified. © Good lifting and rigging practices as stated in the General Job Method Statement for General Lifting shall be observed during installation, © Ensure that the lift is well within the safe working load of the crane. © Lifting supervisor shall be present and conduct all lifting operations. 7.6. Equipment Preparation (Internal) © Gas testing for the equipment internal shall be requested to the contractor(IGCS). Only Certified Authorized Gas Tester shall perform the gas testing. © Gas tester shall provide and record the findings and provide a copy to PCC equipment team to be attached to the PTW application. © After PTW is obtained initial preparation of the equipment internal shall be done. © A reading of the atmospheric content shall be done again to ensure safety. © LD. badges of workers going inside the equipment shall be collected by assigned entry supervisor. © Entry supervisor should always be present whenever there is a worker inside the equipment. © Ventilation systems shall be turned on. © Lighting systems (24V) shall be strategically placed in the equipment and ensure the working level will be well illuminated. Adjustments may be done by lowering or lifting the bulb until it reaches the desired level. Additional bulbs may be placed if required. © Internal cleaning and checking shall be done, ‘© Internal scaffolding will be erected only by qualified scaffolders and inspected by a qualified scaffold inspector. Levelness shall be checked by inspector. © Orientation and or level markings may be placed inside the column for reference. Masking tapes shall be used for markings. © Actual levelness shall be compared to the designed as indicated in the vendor drawings, © Acceptance criteria for the levelness of the support ring is will follow IGCS/Vendor standard require, © fever the deviation in the levelness exceeds the acceptable tolerance, contractor shall advise with regards the issue, rectification procedures and site instructions shall be provided by JGCS. 8 INSTALLATION OF TRAYS 81 82 83 84 85 86 a7 88 89 8.10 ‘The tray installation shall be as per tray manufacturers certified drawings with latest revision and installation procedure or as per NSRP project specification and procedures. ‘The tray assembly work shall be started from bottom stage to top stage, as a rule. However, in case of small diameter tower, it may be easy to proceed fiom top stage. So the work shall be performed in this way after consultation from JGCS. Prior to installation, a minimum of 1 tray for each type should be pre-assembled on the ground to familiarize workmen with the general layout ofthe trays and the specific hardware location to be ‘witnessed by QC inspector and must be documented. Rings and wall should be cleaned prior to installation of tray. Use vacuum cleaner to clean tray prior inspection, Determine the correct orientation of the fist ayer from the vessel arrangement drawings. ‘Marc the vessel walls at 90° intervals to match the desired orientations ofthe layers. It is normal to start from lower side of the tower and build upward. ‘The down comers shall be installed first followed by inlet panels and the active panels. However, in case there are many number of tray stages and the work schedule is tight, duration of the water level drop test may be shortened and, in this case, the level drop should be less than 6mm in 5 minutes © Confirm the clamps are attached in correct direction. © Confirm the correctness and tightness of fasteners ‘Tolerances for respective dimensions to be followed as mentioned in the NSRP Project specification, vendor ‘manual and Approved for construction drawings 11, GENERAL PRECUATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS Ma n2 n3 ua us ‘When any person enters the tower inside, he shall remove dust completely from his shoes, to keep a clean environment, Installers should stand on tray truss lines, especially when lifting parts or climbing between trays where loading may exceed those specified forthe design. No food, drinks and Smoking are allowed within the vessel. All manholes should be opened for ventilation at the time of installation. ‘The lifting of parts into the tray should be carefully performed so thatthe parts or the containers do not fll or get damaged. All bolts, nuts and washer at every tray should be checked for correct length, type and sizes. ‘The torque value for the bolts tighten should be according to the vendor recommendation. After completion of tray installation the vessel is to be closed and purged with nitrogen (Supplied by JGCS), If required. In compliance with the NSRP project requirements and PCC1. Safety Programs, the safety rules and regulations will be enforced. All the safety guidelines for the confined space entry will be followed. In general workers shall enter the tower only after confirming non-existence of any toxic gas and flammable gases. For better ventilation in the tower, all manholes at the bottom and top shall be fully opened. ‘Additional ventilation shall be provided if internal welding is required.
