1.

All of us or mostly all of us are taught by our parents or grandparents values that are
necessary for us to grow in the right path. We are taught to bless or “pagmamano” to
our elders especially our parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. It is to show them
respect that they are our elderly and they know better than us because of their
experience. Using of po and opo is very rare nowadays especially us Visayans, but these
values taught us to be polite to not offend other people. By following these values we
are viewed as a decent individual and let us look that we are in the right path and we
treat people nicely.

2. Patriotism means devoted love, support, and defense of one’s country; national loyalty.
It shows love and means you are ready to sacrifice your life for your country.
Nationalism on the other hand the is a policy or doctrine of asserting the interests of
one’s own nation viewed as separate from the interests of other nations or the common
interests of all nations. Nationalism is a kind of excessive, aggressive patriotism because
it shows how superior the country you are living in.
