AVOCADO (JAN-JUNE) 2014/2013

Avocado is considered one of the most popular products of the


agricultural peruvian exports . During these months of 2014 has been increasing
the production in the 15 thousand hectares. The main markets are United states,
Netherlands and Spain, with 88% of participation in total . Last year, the
exported value was US$101.2 Million. Only in this first six months 2014 the
exported value was US$184.8 Million which represents and increase of 83%
compared to the same period last year. The trend predicts that this rise is going
to increase along this year.

The most important competitive advantage of Peru regarding this product is the
possibility of cultivate in different departments of the country .

The analysis is going to be based in the first six months of the last 4 years compared with 2014. From January
to June 2014 Peru exported US$184.5 Million in avocado with a positive variation of 83% compared with the
same period of 2013. In addition, up to of June 2014 this product has the 8.9% of participation inside the pie of
top export agricultural products, occupying the 3th place in the ranking.
