It is my sincere pleasure to write this letter recommending Kelsey Calton for a

school teaching position.

Ms. Calton completed MSU’s field-based teacher preparation program during the
2021-2022 school year. During the year-long resident internship, I served as her
field placement supervisor and instructor for the accompanying bi-weekly internship
seminar.

Ms. Calton is a great candidate for a teaching position. Her willingness to graciously
receive and implement feedback is a valuable asset for a beginning teacher. As it
relates to planning, Ms. Calton has demonstrated effective and developmentally
appropriate lesson planning skills. Furthermore, her ability to make relevant
connections between content and real-world contexts is evident during her
instruction and interactions with students. Due to her participation in the intern
residency program, she also gained experience as a guest teacher and co-organized a
successful after school book club program geared towards enhancing literacy skills
for third grade students at her placement school.
