MACEIÓ
Maceió, capital of Alagoas, is surrounded by lakes, a sea that merges the
turquoise and emerald green beaches and beautiful gardens adorned by palm
trees. Known as “Paradise of Waters”, is considered as the “Brazilian
Caribbean” due to its natural beauties that attract tourists from around the
world. Your name is Tupi. The Indians named their place “Macayo” or
“Maçai-ok”, which means “that covers the marsh.” Historians claim that the
capital of the State of Alagoas was born of an old sugar mill, by the 18th
century. For others, being seaside, its emergence is linked to a small fishing
village. Whatever its origin, the sea or sugar, Maceió is a place blessed by
Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres.
OUR CULTURE
The culture is expressive and remarkable mainly for its
rich folklore, and their artists, writers and musicians
such as singer-songwriter Djavan and poet Ledo Ivo.
Among the folklore there are amusements as
Caboclinho, Carvalhada, Chegança, Bumba Meu Boi,
Coco de Alagoas, Festa de Reis, Guerreiro (Warrior),
Pastoril, Reisado, Quilombo and Zabumba. The craft is
represented by the “filé” (type of embroidery) and the
pottery that delights everyone for their creativity,
originality and beauty.
GASTRONOMY

The cuisine is a blend of the traditions of the


Indians, Portuguese (settlers) and the Africans,
brought to Brazil as slaves. The Indians, the first
inhabitants of this paradise, left the tradition of
tapioca (cassava flour dough, also known as
cassava or manioc) appreciated the breakfast
and in the evenings throughout the hem of
Maceió.

GIRAMUNDO
The Gira Mundo Project wants to
multiply knowledge about the goals of
sustainable development in a
practical way. Its purpose is to
educate to their reach from small
changes in their reality.
The project methodology is divided
in three phases:
NGO: FamDown
1) Awareness;
2) Engagement;
3) Action.
SMART
A Project that Works exactly the
biggest needs of na NGO: marketing
and administration. Smart, developed
to reestablish and assist trough
consulting, promotes na international
environment for the NGO, broadening
concepts and establishing a
operational plan.
At a local event, Feirinha Cool The Project Works in 3 macro stages:
1) Analysis;
2) Execution;
3) Consilidation.
PLANET HEROES
Our mission is that all children and
all girls, heroes of the planet, multiply
and work for the perpetuation of new
sustainable practices through actions
in their routines in a simple way.
Inspired by the Hero’s Journey, the
project invite the kids to accomplish
the mission to transform the 3
elements of their own world: house,
educational environment and
neighborhood. This project is divided NGO: Instituto Servir
in 3 phases:
1) Start;
2) Action;
3) Return.

Project Nós brings to the educational
environment dialogues and actions
that promote inclusion, working
effectively through experiences
exchange and consolidation of a legacy
while focusing in the development of
leadership.

ATTRACTIONS
Ponta Verde Lighthouse
It is 11 meters high, was built in 1949, taking
advantage of the drilling structure of an oil well. At
low tide it is possible to walk to the lighthouse.
Maragogi Beach
Maragogi, also known as the Brazilian Caribbean,
is the city that houses one of the most beautiful
beaches in Brazil.
Gunga’s Lookout
Located on one of the best beaches in the state, just
45 minutes from Maceió. From the viewpoint, you
can see beaches, lagoons and endless coconut trees
San Francisco Canions
The river São Francisco, in the Alagoan Sertão (a kind of
desert, backwoods), was recognized by the National
Historical Patrimony. It’s full of a beautiful rocks, formations
of sandstone, caves and beetwen the caves, have a lot of
stops for bath in the river.
