Distance learning is a method of studying in which lessons are broadcasted as

videos or classes are conducted over the Internet, without the student needing to
attend a school or college. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, distance learning
became popular more than ever. But like any other education program, it comes
with a set of pros and cons.
There are a number of advantages when learning remotely. Firstly, if you are
concerned about wasting time traveling from place to place, distance learning may
be a solution. Thanks to distance learning, the student does not need to pay for
travel and accommodation, they can spend money focusing on their studies.
Second thing, students can study without leaving their homes or anywhere in the
world. And since you can attend a distance learning course from anywhere, you
can also choose any course that offers the program you want, no matter where it's
located, even internationally. Thirdly, distance learning programs don't require you
to present in a classroom or follow a timetable, so you are free to set your own
schedule. It provides you the flexibility to complete your courses at your own pace,
you can study and do your work when you feel the most alert.
Now, what would be some cons to distance learning? First things first, distance
learning requires self-discipline. This may not suitable for you if you need more
instructions from your teachers because, in distance learning, students' personal
contact with each other and with teachers is minimal. Therefore, this form of
training does not help develop communication skills, confidence, or teamwork
skills. And for some families, the internet, which is necessary for studying
remotely, is too expensive. Lots of students don’t even have computers or mobile
devices to take online classes.
Though with a few shortcomings, online education’s the potential to become an
alternative to traditional education, especially during the pandemic. The learning
experience of distance education is also expected to improve to make online
learning platforms more inclusive. If you’re looking for a program that will allow
you to work in a condition that keeps you at home most of the time, distance
learning can be a great way to learn valuable knowledge and tools for your future.
