Women’s needs

Over the last decades, women’s role in society has improved considerably. Nowadays,
women are able not only to maintain themselves economically but also to study and put
their careers and needs before their family. Men are no longer vital for their lives as
they used to be in the old times. Although women’s happiness does not depend only
(on) men, life without them would be extremely boring.
If we look back in time, women were expected to get a good husband, become
mothers and take care of their children and home. They were not supposed to study a
career or to work because their husbands were the ones in charge of support(ing) the(ir
own) family. In that way, men believed they were superior and have to maintain women
through emotional and economical domination; besides, if a woman was not married by
a certain age, she was considered a ‘spinster’, ‘an old maid’ who was regarded as
undesirable.
In contrast, (at the present time,) women have certainly gained influence if we
contrast them (in contrast) to the women of the past. They have much more freedom,
equal rights, they fill up positions that used to be entirely for men and, they are capable
of maintaining the household, and still (it can be elided) taking care not only of their
children but also of themselves. They have become so self-sufficient that it seems that
men are not (no more) essential for their lives.
Last, we should bear in mind that men and women are different. Relationships
between them are not impossible or necessarily difficult; problems basically take place
because men and women have different principles, priorities, behaviour and education.
We expect the opposite sex to feel, think or act the same way we do but this is
impossible even when comparing two people from the same gender (confusing). It is
not that men and women live in different realities, rather, they lack of knowledge and
mutual experiences leading to difficulties between them.
To sum up, although it is true that women can live without men, their lives would not
be completely fulfilled without them. In the end, men and women harmonize; it is all a
matter of accepting the differences, doing away prejudices and forgetting old times in
order to go on winning territory and creating a more equal society.
