Greetings Directors,

Welcome to the 1st Livingston Festival of Bands! We are grateful for your attendance and we
hope your day is excellent at Livingston High School.

Parade Band Instructions:


Directors and Staff: Director Check in is located next to the Football Field Parking Area.
Please remember to bring your spiel sheet for the announcer. Please bring 2 copies of
your music score for the judges. Coffee and pastries will be provided in the director’s lounge.
Lunch and snacks will also be provided throughout the day in the Director’s Lounge. The
Director’s Lounge will be in the Cafeteria next to the Jazz Competition Area. You may bring your
instructors with you, but please do not bring any students.

*Parade Directors : Campus will be open at 7:00 AM for early parade, concert, and jazz arrivals
and be closed by 6 PM. Be sure to turn in your spiel sheet at registration. Classifications are
determined by NCBA new classifications. Performance times are determined by postmark. You
may warm up in the bus parking lot or on the street before the formation zone. Areas near the
Jazz and Concert competition zones will be marked as Silent Zones. The Staging Area will be
Park Street. The Formation Zone is at the corner of Park and 7th Street. You must leave the
Formation zone at or before your parade step off time. Please note that percussion
competition will be immediately after the parade competition on Main Street.

*For Parents and Students: Boys dressing rooms will be in the boys locker room and girls
dressing rooms will be the girls locker room at the Old Gym. Signs will be posted. The Parade
competition will begin at 9:00 a.m. Jazz competition will begin at 10:50 AM and Concert
competition will begin at 10:00am. Please encourage your students to come back and listen to
parade bands, jazz ensembles, or concert ensembles after they have finished performing. The
parade will end at 10:00 a.m, Jazz will end at 3:25 p.m, and Concert will end at 4:15pm. We will
have concessions and merchandise available throughout the day for students and
parents. Please encourage your students to eat at our concessions! We also will have
Festival of Bands programs and t-shirts for sale.

*Parade, Jazz, and Concert Director’s Meetings and Awards: Score sheets will be handed
out in the Director’s Lounge near the Jazz Competition Area at 4:15 PM. Awards for all schools
will be at 4:45 PM. Drum Majors, Guard representatives, Percussion representatives, jazz
representatives and concert representatives should report to the awards site at 4:30pm in full
uniform. Each school is allowed 1 person to represent each caption during the awards
ceremony. Head gear must be worn during awards for all marching units.

*Jazz Directors – Please remember to bring two conductor’s scores of your competition
music. We will provide the following in the jazz area: PA with solo microphones, a basic drum
set, a chair and stand for each student performing and a stand for the director, one bass amp,
one guitar/keyboard amp, with power supplied, an electronic keyboard, and a vibraphone – If
you choose to use your own drum set/cymbals you must provide the entire setup, no
mix matching pieces. If you choose to use your own equipment please consider that
time in your 25 minute time slot. Performance slots will be 25 minutes for each
ensemble.

*Concert Directors - Please remember to bring two conductor’s scores of your


competition music. We will provide the following in the concert area: Conductor’s Podium and
Stand, Concert Bass Drum, 4 Timpani, Mallet Instruments - Bells, Xylophone, Marimba,
Vibraphone, Chimes, Gong, and an acoustic piano. Performance slots will be 25 minutes for
each ensemble.

*Additional Note: Vendors and BBQ - Unfortunately, we are unable to have any open flames
or barbecues on campus or in the surrounding areas. However, we have a number of vendors
available selling food and refreshments. Please encourage your students and supporters to
purchase from our clubs selling at this Band Review. We will also have Musical Images out to
take pictures of each ensemble after your performances. Please encourage your supporters to
purchase pictures to memorialize your day with us at the Inaugural Livingston Festival of
Bands!
