Duties: As a senior investigator/supervisor, I was charged with leading a team o

Assignment: Deputy Chief of Police
Responsible for the day to day operations of the police department with a multi-
million dollar budget, which included oversight of the patrol division, detectiv
e division, 911 call center, crime scene unit, property and evidence control and
supervision of over 50 sworn and non-sworn personnel. I also assisted in the de
velopment and implementation of the step program; the departments outreach progr
am to include monthly community meetings; the departmentas first community advis
ory committee, jail facility, crime scene unit and the mentoring program; other
assignment responsibilities include:
Internal Affairs- Investigate departmental police misconduct, monitor police tr
aining files and POST files
Grants and programs monitor, to include budget preparation and monitoring
Develop lesson plans for training in-house and at the police academy (certified

l. As the interim chief of police I was tasked with reviewing the current depar
tmental standards and make changes as necessary to move the direction of the pol
ice department down a path towards modern policing and being more community orie
nted. This included revisions to the following areas:
Training- Developed and implemented training schedules and documentation, revis
ed all POST jackets and brought to current standards, Implemented hiring standar
ds in accordance to state guidelines to include annual updated background invest
igations on all sworn personnel.
Policy and procedures- review and revised all departmental policy and procedure
s to include providing a copy to all personnel.
Grants and programs- reviewed and re-wrote departmental DOJ grants to utilize e
xpired grants monies to give the department a facelift to include new uniforms,
badges, and vehicles and equipment. Assigned personnel to monitor those grants.
Evaluated programs for improvements and brought back programs such as the explo
rer program and restore relationships with surrounding agencies.
Initiated the departments first Locator System (Missing and Exploited Children
computerized system) to provide a faster response for missing and abducted child
ren.
Development of interagency agreements (IGAas). Developing member of SARB (Schoo
l Attendance Review Board) for the purpose of raising attendance at the local sc
hools by community assistance and sanction for non-compliance. Member of the dru
g court judiciary team, provide assistance and sanctions to drug related offende
rs.
