SA 4

It was a gloomy day, the wind was howling, and Monica was getting a text. Nothing unique about it was
there, no seal or name on the outside to describe who sent it. She had to conceal it from her mother and,
by candlelight, read it in a windowless corner of her home. The letter referred to a legacy, to be exact, a
small house somewhere next to the lake. She sneaked out with some food and drink that same night, glad
to finally have an excuse to leave the village. Her mother was opposed to Monica's journey to this house,
but it didn't matter. It was a decision by Monica, one she made on her own. She found the house after
roaming around the area for a few days. It was larger than expected. It had two levels, a wide front yard
and a garden with an old fence surrounded by it. Surprisingly, the house was very nice and very tidy, and
it had a beautiful view of the clouds touching the lake and mountains. Monica felt it would be better for
her to stay away from that filthy village and her family, and chose to stay at home.A loud noise from
downstairs invaded her mind when Monica was sleeping, something sharp like glass breaking. In her
drowsy state, she walked towards the source of the noise. Another person was trying to pick up all the bits
of broken glass. "I apologise for my clumsiness," the woman says. I didn't have the intention of waking
you up. I am the mistress of this home. She bowed and gave Monica a smile. It was weird, she felt like
she'd seen her before somehow. "The stomach of Monica begins to growl and the maid says, "My dear,
you must starve yourself. Please have a seat, I will have something ready right now. The scent had
already made her restless, but it just got worse the closer she was to it, and there was a feeling of fear
somewhere in the back of her mind. Monica was really uncertain about what to do, a tiny voice within her
head crying and wanting to run away as fast as she could. She sees the maids' eyes turning bright red
when she turns around, and she has never seen such cruelty in a pair of eyes, such viciousness. The maid
chuckled and let her run, and the house seemed to be chuckling at her. Monica had just accelerated and
attempted to flee through the night. As she tried to run to her home, the fog just got deeper and she
arrived there only to find all the inhabitants of the village dead in the middle of the village. As Monica
was running, she could see that the maid was slowly approaching her with a very sharp knife, realising
that this was the end and choosing to run as fast as she could. She heard a voice asking her to wake up as
she opened her eyes, when she was about to come in front of her and almost slice her throat, and she
realised it was all just a dream. Never again was Monica able to sleep due to the dream.
