Given data

Automotive company produces 3 brands of cars each with 1250 cc.

There are two brands of oil : A and B

Quality of oil is evaluated based upon the oil remaining in the car a er 320 km. 

We have to design an experiment that would allow us to evaluate the quality of oil and also make an
experimental diagram.

 Step 2
 Let us consider the four cars as Car 1, Car 2, Car 3 and Car 4.
The two brands of engine oil are Oil A and Oil B.
Experimental Procedure.

Oil A is to be used for Car 1 and Car 2. 

Oil B is to be used for Car 2 and Car 3.

All the cars have to execute a distance of 320 km. Before beginning the experiment, the quantity of oil in the
car should be checked. 

A er the cars have completed one cycle of 320 km, the oil has to be completely drained and the volume of oil
obtained is to be calculated. 

Apart from the volume of the oil remaining, the quantity of metal impurities within the oil is also a good
indicator of performance. Lower the quantity of metal impurities in the oil, the better is the lubrication
provided by the oil.

Once one cycle of 320 km have been executed, each car has to again undergo two more cycles with the same
brand of oil.

The remaining oil a er each cycle has to be documented.

The average of the volume of the remaining oil a er three cycles of 320 km each has to be calculated and
compared.

From this, we can identify which brand of oil, Brand A or Brand B, is better for the car.
