Prevention Is Better Than Cure

COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered


coronavirus. This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in
Wuhan, China, in December 2019. We all have been affected by the current COVID-19
pandemic. However, the impact of the pandemic and its consequences are felt differently
depending on our status as individuals and as members of society. While some try to adapt to
working online, and ordering food, groceries and clothes online, others have no choice but to be
exposed to the virus while keeping our economy and society functioning. The landscape of our
education system as well, drastically changed to fulfill the needs of our students. However, how
hard it is, we have to accept and adapt the situation since we know it will have prolonged for
such a very long time. Therefore, we have to take some actions to prevent our loved ones from
infected by this virus.

One of the precautions which is stressed by the Ministry of Health is to follow the
Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) when we go outside which are; wear face mask, keep
social distancing and avoid crowded places. People are thought to be most contagious when
they are most symptomatic. However, some spread might be possible before people show
symptoms. The virus is transmitted from a sick person to a healthy person through respiratory
droplets when the sick person coughs or talks close to another person. COVID-19 can be
spread by touching contaminated surfaces or objects, and then touching eyes, nose or mouth.
COVID 19 may spread from contact with contaminated surfaces or objects. Therefore, the
expertise believes that, by practicing the correct SOP will minimize our tendency to be affected.

The most non hygienic part of human is hands. This is because we prone to touch and
hold things and also touch our face especially our eyes, mouth and nose without even realizing
it. The virus can get into the body through the eyes, nose and mouth. Hence, keeping hands
clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs
to others. Handwashing has always been one of most effective ways of keeping diseases at
bay. It is a simple step that really effective when it comes to keeping ourselves healthy and safe.
Hand hygiene needs to become an integral part of our daily routine and our lives, as we live
through this pandemic, and beyond, to protect us from Covid 19. Thus, washing hands
frequently with soap and water and use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent of
alcohol can prevent us from being infected by the virus. It is one of the best defenses in order to
prevent from spreading of Covid 19.

As we know, the immune system is the best defense as it supports body’s natural ability
to fight the virus. Consume a healthy diet is important during Covid 19 pandemic. Limit salt,
sugar and fat intake in our diet. Eat enough fiber and always stay hydrated. It is advisable to
prepare home cook meals and choose food that contains high nutritious to ensure our body has
optimal health. Use fresh ingredients instead of artificial one. Healthy food can boost our
immune system as well in order to fight the virus. As we know, this virus prone to attack the
body when the immune system is at the lowest state. We also can practice healthy lifestyle for
example do regular exercise, cut off smoking habit and stop alcohol intake. Healthy diets and
lifestyle are important for supporting immune system.

Physical condition is important to protect us from being infected. Exercising regularly has
significant to physical and mental benefits. Create our fitness plan by making a schedule of our
daily life for example go for a jog three times a week. We also need a right support, good
environment, and a clear mindset to make exercise an inherent part of our lifestyle. Make use a
little bit of our time to exercise to ease our mind. Healthy physical and mind will make ourselves
healthy.

Covid-19 is real. Make sure we take a good care of ourselves by practicing the Standard
Operation Procedure (SOP), keep ourselves clean, eat healthy and balance food, and do some
exercise regularly. It is better to avoid something rather than deal with the consequences. We
cannot buy healthy life with money. As said in the proverb ‘Prevention is better than cure’.
