My learning goals in counseling include mastering theories I like such as CBT and

person-centered counseling. I would also like to become a natural at reflection of meaning. I

have learned more about this skill this semester, but I still rarely use it. I would love to utilize it

more after becoming more effective at it. I also want to learn more about CBT case

conceptualizations since I want to use the CBT theory often as one of my main theories. I want

to be more self-aware of how I feel during the session so that my feelings do not affect my

ability to use my skills. I want to learn methods to not let my feelings interfere with my sessions.

I generally don’t have that problem, but I know if something bad happens right before a session,

it could possibly impact me. I want to learn to be more organized so that I can be efficient. I

realize I can only do two things at a time. When I have several things to do it affects me

negatively. I think I could become more professional if I could focus more time on counseling. I

also think I will grow from reading more so that I can become more knowledgeable about

techniques and situations.
