Byron Bay
We’ll kick off the adventure in Byron Bay, known for its laid-back vibe and chilled location, has been
a traveller hotspot for some time. We will have a walk through the beachside town and pick a spot
for lunch. Hit the surf with your instructor; with soft break and perfect waves, they will have you
riding those waves like a pro in no time! Ending your day in the waves, it’s your last chance to
perfect your ‘cutback’ before we share a laugh over some well-deserved dinner.
Byron Bay
Today’s the day you get to tick off some of those exciting activities like skydiving! Byron Bay is an
amazing spot for whale watching and seeing dolphins, so head out onto the water by boat or kayak
and go and meet the locals. Or if you are after some more land-based activities, try biking to the
most eastern point of Australia or grab a bite at a quirky local café. Grab yourself a bike and cycle
out to Cape Byron to see the famous lighthouse and its accompanying views.

The trip overall was good! The cities were nice, the hostels for the
most part are nice but definitely upgrade if you can. I upgraded to
private in Byron Bay and it was worth every penny. From all the tours
I saw, this was definitely the best value. I wish we got to spend more
time in Brisbane and less in Noosa. We got hit with terrible weather.
Our tour date was March 1-15 and there was awful rainstorm for like
4 days straight. A lot of our activities got cancelled. If the weather was
nice, this would’ve been a 10 star trip! The included breakfast was
very basic, some toast, pb&j, and maybe some yogurt/fruit if you
were lucky. The other activities like the Whitsundays boat tour was
wonderful as well as the Fraser Island tour. I wish we had better
weather but the tour leaders made it as enjoyable as could be. Worst
part of the trip was our tour leader Callum aka Blinky. He was hot and
cold, rude and disrespectful for the majority of the two weeks. While
he was very knowledgeable about topics, he was not a people’s
person. He seemed quite jaded from the beginning. If anyone tried to
move the luggage, he would throw a fit. Even though most of the
group was in their late 20s and 30s he was condescending and spoke
to us all as if we were stupid. A bunch of us were scheduled to go
skydiving one morning and because of the heavy rain we were
worried it might be cancelled. He was supposed to notify us in the
morning and after my many texts and calls he said, “rather than
calling...

After a lot of saving and searching for the ultimate East Coast trip
from Sydney to Cairns, my best friend and I booked the two week
Absolute Aussie tour with Wild Kiwi (not realising it was rainy season
whoops). We celebrated four birthdays in the group, ticked off a lot of
bucket list activities and had the trip of a lifetime! Starting in the
scenic Blue Mountains and up to Hunter Valley for the ultimate
combination of kangaroo watching, wine and cheese tasting
experience (prepare to feel fat and tipsy). Then on to Spot X to learn
to surf (very young crowd, but lots of fun to be had). The on to one of
my highlights; Byron Bay.. what a place! Such a cool and edgy town,
brimming with activities, clothes shops, amazing food and live music.
Here our group got involved in kayaking with dolphins and skydiving.
We then went from Surfers Paradise to the industrial and rooftop bar
sights of Brisbane, and then on to Noosa. This is where we embarked
on a wild jurassic park 4x4 adventure with Peta our wonderful guide
across Fraser Island. A bumpy ride, top tip - keep your belts on for
dear life! We then went on to Whitsundays for the 2 day, 1 night
sailing. Unfortunately, the weather was pants but the boat crew Mel,
Sam and Laura were fab, and we made the best of the situation! Then
last but not least, our final stop.. Cairns!! WOW. Our luck had done a
full 360, and the weather was gorgeous! We were driven up the
Tablelands Atherton Mountains, where we got some Insta worthy

Just finished the 2 week Absolute Aussie trip up the east coast; some
of the highlights included snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef, sailing
the Whitsundays, Byron Bay and learning how to surf. The company
Wild Kiwi have planned the perfect itinerary that covers a lot of
travelling without sacrificing time for activities. We mostly stayed in
YHA hostels which were comfortable enough and reliable, I don’t feel
like we spent too little or too much time in one place. All the included
activities were worthwhile and the optional activities were also great
and not too expensive. Myself and a friend booked this trip after
reading so many great reviews online, particularly about the tour
guides. The only disappointment about the trip for me is the tour guide
we had; Blinky (Callum). The role of a tour guide should be someone
who is enthusiastic, gets involved with the group and is happy to
answer any questions. For the majority of the two weeks on the road,
Blinky was very up and down giving us minimal information about an
activity and then reacting passive aggressively to any questions we
might have had. It created a cold atmosphere within the group which
was a shame as the 11 of us, despite coming from different walks of
life got on very well and enjoyed sharing stories and time with each
other. I kept my distance a lot of the time, mainly to ensure his mood
didn’t affect a trip I’ve saved up for for so long. But I watched the way
he treated or spoke to other members of the gro...
