year as a 11th grader

02 Social Science
There are 3 choices for 11th graders for history:

● AP US History (SS301F)
● AP US History (SS932P) - e-learning option (online)
● Dual Enrollment History 171C (SS5002)*
*This class will be only 1st semester – will count as a full year of credit for US History
2nd semester students will be expected to take the paired class - which is DE English 125 C
(which is a film class)
03 Mathematics
You will select ONE of the following for Math:

● AP Calculus AB (MA401F)

The expectation is that you will be taking both CHIN 203 and CHIN 204 the following year.

A note about being a TA, Peer Tutor or Science Lab Assistant.….

If you would like to be a TA or Science Lab Assistant and have a specific teacher in
mind, you will need to write the Teacher’s name on the bottom of your card and get
their signature to show they approve. TA placement is not guaranteed - it will be
based on teacher and student schedule match up after master schedule is
completed.
You can have an alternate teacher and signature just in case.
If you would like to be a Peer Tutor for our CCR program, please choose this option.
eLearning Instructions
1. Sign up via Aeries portal - course selection – it must be a
“Request Primary,” not an alternate
* Make sure you are selecting the elearning course number – it
will start with “900”
Example : AP English Lang Comp (regular, seat-based) = EN301 F
AP English Lang Comp eLearning = EN931P
2. In April, the district will pull the list of students who are interested
in the elearning courses and send you an email confirmation.
3. YOU MUST RESPOND to the email -- no response means you will
automatically be dropped
4. You and parent must fill out the eLearning commitment letter
form which will be sent out in April
Things to keep in mind:
● 50% of the seats for any given eLearning class will be reserved for
students at the school/teacher who is hosting it. The other 50%
will be filled by whoever responds to the email first.
● If you select eLearning as an alternate, the district will not pick up
your request and you will NOT receive an email.

Aeries portal ...
You will need to log into your Aeries

1) Select Classes

2) In the drop down menu choose Course Request Entry

for your first choice and select a different science class as

Because most high level science classes are only 1 or 2


periods, you MUST select alternates for each science class –
it is suggested that you have a 2nd alternate as well.
To select your World Language, you
can type in the Name “WL”

Remember Dual Enrollment Chinese classes require a 2 year

If you are planning to request a specialty program


(ASB, Link Crew, Gamut or Yearbook)...

You must select the Class as a “Request Alternate”

Once final lists are approved and given to the Counselors, then
we will hand input you into the Specialty Program.

The next slides will explain how to link your Alternates.


Here is how to link your
alternates to your Primary
choices. You will find the
class that you would like to
REPLACE if you are
accepted into a specialty
class or you want to be
specific about an
alternate replacing a
specific class.

For example, if you want to


be in Link Crew, then you
would select it as a
“Request Alternate” It will Find the class you would want to replace – say it’s Concert

A Note about Dual Enrollment...
The options for embedded (on our campus during school hours) Dual
Enrollment classes are:
● Mandarin 203 and 204 (1 full year)
● Criminal Justice/ Sociology (1 sem each)
If you are interested in other Dual Enrollment courses offered after/outside of school hours, please refer to the
Cypress College Dual Enrollment link on the Oxford Academy Website. Course descriptions and explanation
of what Dual Enrollment is can be found in our Oxford Academy Course Selection Handbook Spring 2022.

Ms. Ganda will be sending out a Google Interest form for students who are
interested in taking Dual Enrollment classes during the Summer or after school in
Fall 2022. Please watch your email for the form…. It will also be announced in the
weekly Counselor Newsletter sometime in late March/early April.

Academic Planner
As another tool to help you plan for future
classes, there is a feature in Aeries called
“Academic Planner”
To get to your Academic Plan in Aeries… go to your Classes
menu and select “Academic Plan”

You can click on different views – we recommend using the


UC College Requirements, as that is what is expected of all
Oxford Academy students.

The classes you took and that are


recorded on your transcript are already
loaded in green.

The classes you are currently taking are


already loaded in orange

We are going add the classes you will be


taking next year. Some are already
pre-set, which you will add in one step.
Your other choices will have to be
selected one by one.
Step 1: To add your pre-set
classes, click on “Grade”

Step 2: When this pop up


menu appears, select
“Please pick one” across
from Grade level 11

The one choice will be listed


under the blue bar.
Move your cursor down so
that it highlights the whole
line. Click once.

● Check for completeness and fix errors
● Collect your Course Selection Contract - it should match Aeries selections
exactly.

Important:
There will be no course request changes after Wednesday, Feb 23, 2022.
Discuss, plan, and make FINAL decisions before this date (with your
parent/guardian) and both signatures must be on the contract or courses will
not be approved.

We will have Course Selection Office Hours during CLUSTER
( 11:30 am - 11:50 am) everyday to answer questions and assist students.
Please ask your Cluster teacher to allow you to come to the
Counseling Office if you need help.

We will also have Virtual Office hours via Google Meets every Wednesday
and Friday from 2:00 - 3:20 pm for parents who have questions.
