Summary of "Equitable Capitalism or Bust"

An article by Bertrand Badre, Yann Coyatanlem.

This article has exposed the flaws of a system that has grown increasingly incompatible with
sustainable development and equality of opportunity. The inequalities have increased due to the
increase in the intensity of the global crisis. Governments these days are focused on short-term
improvement to convince the general public and strengthen their political agenda.
While utilizing the resources of the country, the number of greenhouse gases that emit into the
environment may vary due to technological advancement. However, the developed countries
have already completed their phase of excessive emission. Similarly, while the government
subsidizes its people, it should ensure equality by addressing the mass who have already started
taking service on their own.
The most salient forms of inequality change over time, often evolving with the broader legal
environment so, the policy for social welfare should be made such that it could be more adaptive
to face challenges like climate change and energy-price spikes
Taxation generates revenues to support inclusive social policies and reduces income and
wealth gaps. This can be done by collecting more taxes from those few people holding the
majority of the income and rebounding the same to the one with less income which
extends social mobility and also increases inequalities across the remaining 99% of the
population.
Reforming Contemporary capitalism needs reviewing competition rules. Regulation and
enforcement to ensure competition is more important now as robotics technologies have
completely restructured the market. The widespread demand for equity in the service of
efficiency, ensuring true equality of opportunity for individuals and companies should be
addressed regardless of social status.
