ACCEPTABLE WORSHIP/ SERVICE

Heb 12:28 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and
thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,

 Serving God not of gratitude not obligation, though we are under obligation.
 Because of The Kingdom is GIVEN to us & RECEIVED by us not EARNED. (Luke 12:32)
 Be grateful because you have come…TO GOD, THE JUDGE OF ALL – JESUS,THE MEDIATOR
(Heb.12:22-24)

What is acceptable Worship?

1) BROTHERLY LOVE IS ACCEPTABLE WORSHIP (Heb. 13:1)

 “Let…. Continue”, suggests that we have a responsibility to see love Continues to rule our
relationships.

 In the beginning relationship seems easy but not when we get hurt and offended by others.

 Remember what Jesus, our elder brother did to us. ( Matthew 18:21-33)

 Master Releases those who cannot pay back but we choke and imprison our debtors.

 If you CHOKE and BEAT DOWN your trespassers then it should DISTRESS US, the Church.
(Matthew 18:31)

 Choking and imprisoning your trespassing brothers is WICKEDNESS. (Matthew 18:32)

 Mercy flows when you remember that YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERLY JUDGED, Yet you are
forgiven.

 Jesus changes focus of peter by helping him see himself as greatly indebted yet forgiven, which
will help him forgive his brothers.

 Remember that YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER will judge the non forgiving brothers.
  Mat 5:23-25 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that
thy brother hath ought against thee;  Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go
thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Agree
with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time
the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and
thou be cast into prison.

 Target is reconciliation not settling disputes or winning arguments, because we want to live
as one family.
 Reconcile= Diallasso= Change thouroughly, doing something to make someone stop being
angry or discontented.
 “First be reconciled”….. “Do it quickly”, suggest an urgency. First things first.

 1 Corinthians 11:19-34 The reason “many are sick and weak and some died”, is………

 Division among brothers in Corinthian Church. 1:10-13, 3:1-4

 Between HAVE ALL & HAVE NOTS. 11:21-22
 Between WEAKER- & STRONGER-MORE HONORABLE ORGANS. 12:22
 Between LESS HONORABLE & MORE HONORABLE. 12:23

Corinthian Church was despising and Humiliating those who HAD NOTHING.

Paul asks, “ Should I commend you in this? No I will not.” 11:22

TWO KINDS OF PEOPLE IN CORINTHIAN CHURCH:

 Saying to themselves, “Because I am not a hand that’s why I don’t belong to the body”. 12:15
 Saying to others, “ I have no need of you”. 12:21

All are needed in the body because….

 “God composed the body”…12:24

 “God has appointed in the Church”….12:28

 Lawsuits against one another 6:1-8

1. “When” you have “grievance against a brother”. Not IF you have. In Church grievances
will occur.
2. It’s a shame for the Church to NOT HAVE WISE LEADERS who settle DISPUTES. 6:6
3. Church is defeated by NOT SUFFERING WRONG and UNFORGIVENESS TOWARDS those
who defraud us or deprive us of our rights.

2) HOSPITALITY UNTO STRANGERS IS ACCEPTABLE WORSHIP:

  You don’t know them but you do know their creator.
 Matthew 25:44 “ When did we see you hungry”?.... This suggests that we are quick to help our
own but not those we don’t see as our own.
 All were virgins, All waited, All were excited but All were not hospitable and generous to others.

IMAGINE IF:

 Widow of zarephath would not be hospitable to Elijah

3) SUPPORTING THE suffering & PERSECUTED CHURCH IS ACCEPTABLE WORSHIP:
