Final Portfolio Rubric

SED 496

The purpose of a student portfolio is to illustrate self-reflection and growth throughout your academic
career at Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. The content should include a summary of your talent,
experience and skills. Demonstrate intellect in combining classroom learning with professional
experience.

1. Resume and Letter of Recommendation: (Career and Professional Development Services)

2. Philosophy: A brief description of your beliefs about yourself and education.

3. Career Goals: Your professional Goals for the next five years.

4. Work samples that illustrate the creation of a product, such as an essay, evolving through various
stages of conception, drafting, and revision.

5. Skill Areas: Identify three to five of the major skill set areas you have that would be important for
someone in your career field to have. Sources of work samples include classroom projects, lesson
plans, materials generated on the job or during an internship/co-op experience, professional
development or certification training, materials from community service, volunteer work, campus
clubs and organizations and professional memberships. (For SED 496, your Cross Curricular
Lesson plan could be included in your Portfolio).
