The following data represent the value of exports and imports in 2018 for various
countries. Data is in the billions of dollars. Using Pearson’s Correlation, what
conclusions can you reach about the relationship between exports and imports?
n= 10
Problem 2
The following data represent the digital mode talk time in hours and the battery capacity
in milliampere-hours of cellphones. By the Pearson’s Correlation; a) what conclusions
can you reach about the relationship between the battery capacity and the digital-mode
talk time? b) You would expect cell phones with a higher capacity to have higher talk
time. Is this borne out by the data?
n = 18
r= 0.946136992
INTERPRETATION
Based on the computation, there is a correlation coefficient of
0.946 which implies that there is strong positive correlation
between a country's exports and imports. This could also mean that
if the exports of a country is high, they also incurred high imports.
r= 0.362656546
INTERPRETATION
According to the calculation, the correlation coefficient is 0.363,
indicating that there is a weak positive correlation between the
battery capacity and digital-mode talk time. Higher battery
capacity doesn’t mean higher talk time. Having weak positive
correlation implies that while both variables tend to rise in reaction
to one another, the relationship is weak.
