TOASTMSTERS SPEECH

THE LIFE OF FANIZO JERE

The journey starts in the hills and beaches of Chapeta Village,T/A Zilakoma in Nkhataby South

Achild is born to Mr Mabvuto jere and Mrs Ebineli Jere, a 10 th child , a last born

2 brothers and 7 sisters already on the table, some already married off.

He is given the name ,Fanizo ,as he resembles his dad so much

Growing up in these parts was tough, poverty was visible in everything being done, the house we living
in,the food on the table , the clothes being won,and the schools being attend.

School journey started at 5 years old , the school was Chapeta Junior Primary school ,4 km away from
home.this school ended at standard 4

After that, you either have have to treck for 10km one way to Tukombo Primary school to continue from
standard 5 up to 8, or drop out and join the long list of youth who are now fishermen

We braved the scorching heat of the lakeshore area in search of education

Luckly, our first born brother had finished college and started work in Lilongwe in 1998, he came and
rescued us and brought us to town-me and my three siblings.

Continued school at Chatuwa primary in Area 18B, then I got selected to Dedza secondary school to
pursue secondary education

Remembering my early years and the struggle I went through motivated me to work hard and focus only
at education during my time at DEGOSS, as some of my friends indulged in beer drinking and smoking

I graduated with 9 points and that allowed me to be selected to t\he Malawi Polytechnic in 2005 to
pursue a Bachelors Degree in Electrical engineering

My 5 years at the Malawi polytechnic were less eventful

As a Christian my focus was mainly God,School and some football

I graduated in 2011 , with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical,In 2012 I found a job with TNM as a drive test
engineer, that’s where I am up to today.

I have grown with TNM to become a man with three kids ,moving up and down to ensure customers
enjoy the best network.

Ass I approach my 10th anniversary in April 2022, I believe I have achieved all I could with TNM and I am
ready for the new challenges and see where the future takes me.
