STATEMENT OF SUPPORT
FROM MEMBERS

OF THE
UP AND UPIS COMMUNITY

Press Statement – 27 April 2022

Over 1,000 members from all campuses of the University of the Philippines (UP) and UP Integrated School (UPIS)
community have resoundingly endorsed Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo for President and Senator
Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan for Vice President.

The undersigned members of the UP and UPIS community -- including organizations, fraternities/sororities, and
individuals encompassing students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and other community members here and abroad --
expressed support for the Leni-Kiko tandem in their own private capacity in this statement. They join other members
of the academic and educational community, including those from La Salle, University of Santo Tomas, Ateneo
Professional Schools (Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health, Ateneo Graduate School of Business, Ateneo
Law School, and Ateneo School of Government), Miriam College and other schools, colleges, and universities who
have also backed the candidacies of VP Leni Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.

We arrive at this decision after careful scrutiny of their actions and accomplishments as public servants; their
proposed plans on key issues; their commitment to truth, transparency and accountability; and their character as
leaders and Filipinos. We believe the candidates embody the UP values of honor and excellence. They have shown
competence and ethical leadership throughout their years in public service.

We firmly believe that a Leni Robredo Presidency and a Kiko Pangilinan Vice Presidency would provide the best
political terrain for creating a nation in which all Filipinos can thrive. At this time of unprecedented crisis, VP Leni
Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan’s political careers show that they have a clear grasp of the scale and complexity of
the national problems, and the best abilities to address these problems with urgency and resolve.

VP Leni Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan can provide the

clearest path forward for better health, well-being, and
economic standing of Filipinos, and the coming together of
citizens from all walks of life to build a shared prosperous
future.

For all these reasons, we believe that it is VP Leni Robredo

and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan who best fit the job to be the
