How to Restring a Guitar

Introduction

While it may seem daunting to do, restringing a guitar is actually a very


simple process. Many beginner guitar players believe it would be easier to pay for
some third party to restring their guitars. This is simply not the case. By learning
how to properly restring your guitar, you will not only have a better understanding
of your instrument, but it will also allow you to save money!

Step-By-Step Guide

1. Loosen the tuning pegs at the head of your guitar. By tBy turning the peg
enough, you should be able to feel the string becoming looser. When the
string becomes loose enough, remove it from the tuning peg.
2. Take your string winder and begin to remove the pegs at the bridge of the
guitar. After the pegs are removed, you can also take offremove the old
strings. Set aside the pegs for later use.

3. Flush the new string into the hole from the bridge peg. After the string is
pushed in, press the bridge peg into the hole.

Note: The notch in the peg should face the guitar head and the string
should fit comfortably

4. Take the new strings and wrap them around the tuning pegs at the head of
the guitar. Tighten the knob to secure the strings in place.

5. CFinally, clip any leftover guitar strings with your wire cutters.
WARNING: Make sure to cut them close to the peg so that it does not cut
you.

Conclusion

After doing these steps, you should have a completely restrung guitar! All
that is left to do is tune the strings to your preferred tuning. Hopefully these
