● Dystopia vs Utopia: utopia unravels into a dystopia-sci-fi
● Book is about a nightmare world that we have been creeping towards steadily
● BNW: Henry Ford+Sigmund Freud=GOD called the fordist religions
● Consumerism, assembly line, religion
● Genetical engineering
● People being kept happy by drugs if society fails them
● Drug called soma: addiction
● Everyone stay happy to keep them under control, quiet, obedient, and
PRODUCTIVE
● In this society underneath the religions some of the things that are encouraged is
sex, buying all the time, and avoiding unhappiness
● No thinking, no change
● Rich vs poor
● Baby design
● Endless distractions/no boredom/solitude: between hours at work
● Soma is used to keep people happy and obedient distributed by the gov,
