IOT DEVICE DOMAIN NETWORK PLATFORM APPLICATION

• The use of Short Range IoT Network depends on the characteristics and range needed.
Bluetooth (IEEE 802.15.1): Low power, Range 50m, 300 kbps.
Zigbee (IEEE 802.15.1): Low power, Range 10m, 250 kbps.
Wifi (IEEE 802.11.n): Middle power, Range 100m, 150 Mbps.
• For Long Range IoT Network, it tends to use LPWAN technology (LoRA, Sigfox, NB-IoT).
LoRA: Open system, ISM band, low power, range 15 km, 10-100 kbps, fit for nation-wide and private network.
Sigfox: Proprietary system, ISM band, low power, range 15 km, 100 bps, nation-wide approach.

Smart City:
“The use of Smart Computing technologies to
make the critical infrastructure components and
services of a city—which include city
administration, education, healthcare, public
safety, real estate, transportation, and utilities—
more intelligent, interconnected, and efficient.”

Industry 4.0: Definition
Industry 4.0 is the fourth industrial revolution
which includes Internet of Things (IoT), cloud
computing, and big data in manufacturing process
[Hermann, Pentek, & Otto, 2015].

The term Industry 4.0 is referred to “Industrie 4.0”

which publicly known in 2011, when an initiative
named “Industrie 4.0” - an association of
representatives from business, politics, and
academia - promoted the idea as an approach to
strengthening the competitiveness of the German
manufacturing industry (Kagermann, Lukas, &
Wahlster, 2011).

Industry 4.0: Benchmarks
Airbus: Factory of the Future
To say that assembling a commercial jetliner is an elaborate affair would be an
understatement. Such craft have millions of components and tens of thousands of
assembly steps, and the cost of mistakes during the process can be enormous. To
tackle the complexity, Airbus has launched a digital manufacturing initiative known
as Factory of the Future to streamline operations and bolster production capacity.
The company has integrated sensors to tools and machines on the shop floor and
given workers wearable technology — including industrial smart glasses — designed
to reduce errors and bolster safety in the workplace. In one procedure, known as
cabin-seat marking, the wearables enabled a 500% improvement in productivity
while nearly eliminating errors.

Telkom & Kimia Farma “Sinergi BUMN”

Telkom and Kimia Farma (KF) are 2 SOEs who are aggressively entering IoT and
Industry 4.0 (I4.0) era. Telkom, who is a technology company, willing to help KF to
enhance their capabilities with the help of IoT. They are now working together to
implement I4.0 concepts in KF factories. KF are willing to enter I4.0 because they
have same vision with Telkom to win the market using technology. Yes it is not a big
bang approach, which Telkom started to implement small (but effective) use cases in
one of KF’s factory. Following its success, they are now in the middle of
implementing I4.0 in KF’s bigger factory. Both parties have benefits from this
collaboration, for Telkom they build their capabilities and portfolio in I4.0,
meanwhile KF gain more productivity and efficiency from the use case
implementations.

IoT for Healthcare Use Case: My Kardio
My Kardio:
“A telemedicine system for monitoring cardiovascular
patient in rural area with auto-diagnosis feature”

Background:
• Cardiovascular disease is the cause of 1/4 death of
humans [CDC Reports, 2015]*.
• Bad quality of healthcare services in Indonesia,
with doctor to resident ratio is 43 : 100,000 [MoH
RI, 2015]. Many cases are unhandled properly.
• Medical specialists are very rare in rural areas
comparing in big cities [MoH RI, 2017]**.
