Hello Bishop Families!

Welcome back! - I hope that you and your family were able to take some time off last week.

We have officially begun our last quarter of the 2021-22 school year; with this said, there are
many happenings and details related to the end of the year - MCAS for grades 3-5 is
ongoing through the month of May, Bishop’s Annual Clean-Up Day is this weekend, Science
Night is next week, The Bear Fair is back! (May 14th), student placement for next year has
been initiated, and our 5th Grade Recognition will take place on the 16th of June at
10:00am.!
You can keep up to date on all of these events, and more, by reading this Weekly Update,
which is posted every Thursday.

Greg Wright Spring Clean Up Day

Sunday, May 1st from 9AM to 12PM
Please join us for our annual Greg Wright Spring Clean Up Day to keep Bishop looking
beautiful! Sign up here, or just show up on the 1st! While signing up helps us plan, it’s not
necessary. If you have gloves or tools, please bring those with you. We will provide extra for
those who do not. Mr. Wright was a much-loved fixture at Bishop who passed away in 2017.
He was a jovial spirit who cared for the building and grounds as he would his own home.

Plans for the day include:

• Grounds clean up and trash pick up
• Cleaning all beds and edging as much as possible
• Pollinator garden weeding
• Bishop Garden work

Please email Amanda Maltais aemaltais@gmail.com or Alex Rehm Alex.Rehm@gmail.com

with any questions.

Please Volunteer for the Bear Fair

The Bishop Bear Fair is a large event and it would not be possible without many parent
volunteers. The Bishop PTO kindly asks all parents to give at least one hour staffing at the
Bear Fair. Look for an email from your child(ren)’s room parent(s) for specific information, or
you can visit the Bear Fair Volunteer Site to see your classroom assignment as well other
needs for staffing and supporting the Bear Fair. There are also opportunities for 5 th graders
and Bishop Alumni to help run some of the games. Any questions? Contact Heather Breslau
at heather.breslau@gmail.com.

Donations for the Bear Fair Prize Table

Kids earn prize tickets playing games at the Bear Fair that they can redeem for prizes. Do
you have extra or left over party favors? Do you have new toys that your kids never played
with? Consider donating these items for the Prize Table at the Bear Fair. We are looking for
small, medium and large new prizes for boys and girls to redeem their game tickets. The
age range is from preschool (4) to middle school (13+).

There is a bin labeled Bishop Bear Fair Prizes in the school lobby.  Please drop off before
Wednesday, May 11th.

Used Goods Sale

Start your Spring cleaning! The Used Goods Sale will occur during the Bear Fair on Saturday,
May 14th from 10am-2pm. Please consider donating items to the Sale. We kindly request
only items in good condition. Acceptable items include Books, Sporting Goods, Toys &
Games, Baby Gear, Bicycles, Household Goods, Knick-Knacks and Jewelry. Stay tuned
