Difference of Site Planning and Landscape Architecture.
When designing structure, we need to consider first the site wherein the structure
will be built which is a work of a Site planner. The site is the most important element to
consider. The site refers to the region or land that will be used to build the proposed
project. The site planner selects and analyzes the site for diverse soil, slope, vegetation,
and other qualities before deciding on its applications. Landscape architecture is
concerned with the planning, design, management, and maintenance of both
constructed and natural ecosystems. To be able to understand on what Site Planning
and Landscape architecture is, let’s define it.
Site planning comprises a variety of activities carried out by architects, planners,
urban designers, landscape architects, and engineers, and is the art and science of
designing settlements on the land. It also refers to the landscape design process'
organizing step. To accomplish the intended site, it entails the coordination of land use
zoning, access, circulation, privacy, security, shelter, land drainage, landscape
components, terrain, water features, and vegetation. It is the art of organizing structures
on the land and defining the spaces between architecture, engineering, landscape
architecture, and city planning, according to Kevin Lynch. Its moral and aesthetic goal is
to create places that enhance everyday life, empower their residents, and give them a
sense of place. When an architect is given a design task, several environmental aspects
must be taken into consideration. Landscape architecture incorporates aspects of art,
environment, architecture, engineering, and sociology in the study and practice of
creating settings (outdoors and interiors) of varied scales. Landscape architects use
their unique skill set to enhance human and environmental health in all communities.
Parks, campuses, streetscapes, pathways, plazas, dwellings, and other initiatives that
enrich communities are planned and designed by them. Environmental rules and
construction requirements impact both landscape architects and urban planners. When
making preparations, they must take into account all local legislation. Landscape
architects specialize in the design and arrangement of outdoor spaces, and they may
have to work around factors like existing trees or environmentally sensitive regions
while deciding how to use the property. Job responsibilities of a landscape architect
includes discuss project proposals with clients, visit site locations and identify
geographic features they may need to incorporate into their design plan, draft plan
proposals, determine the expected cost of the project and the last is to travel to
worksites and check on project's progress.
In conclusion, as an architecture student, I need to learn more about a Site
planning to build a good structure. Site planning is one of the most important in process
of building a structure, we need to consider all the behaviors of our surroundings or
even a one community as a Landscape architecture. The role of a Landscape architect
is to improve not only the human health but also the environmental health in all
community.
