HEAVEN, IF YOU ARE NOT HERE ON EARTH

KUVEMPU

Answer the following questions in a paragraph of 80-100 words:

1. Describe the beauty of nature that makes the earth a heavenly place?

Ans: In the poem ‘Heaven, If you are not here on earth’, the poet emphasizes that
heaven is not that one could see after the death. But it is the one which could be seen
while living and enjoying the beauty of nature. The poet presents the wonderful
description of nature saying that one can experience heaven while looking at the
stream that rools down the top of the mountain. The tender sunshine falling on the
lush green forest makes the earth heavenly place.

2. Why does the poet feel earth is more beautiful than heaven?

Ans: The view of the poet is that a man can see Heaven, God and Nymphs on the
earth. In the different forms of nature man can see it. For instance, the green forest,
the stream that leaps down the hill, rolling surfs at the edge of the sea, moonlit night
and the splendor of harvest, among all these man can see heaven.
