Constructivism is the theory that says learners construct knowledge rather than just passively
take in information. The focus of constructivism, is to let the classroom environment collaborative,
and let the learners construct their own knowledge than the teacher taking information to the learners.
The students, should take charge with their own learning, and the teachers are just facilitators of
knowledge.
2. What is the role of the teacher in a constructivist classroom? (20 points)
In a constructivist classroom, the role of the teachers are facilitators of the students in
creating their own knowledge. They, are the ones who assist the learners, in constructing their
knowledge base on their previous learning.

3. Why is constructivist theory applicable in teaching mathematics? (20 points)


Constructivist theory is applicable in teaching mathematics, because teaching math
through constructivist methods, allow students to deepen their knowledge beyond rote
memorization, develop meaningful context to comprehend the given math problems.

4. Why is constructivism important in the classroom?. (20 points)


It is important in the classroom, for it creates a collaborative environment, it allows
sharing of different ideas for the learners to learn with their classmates. Constructivism in the
classroom, allows students to learn not only from themselves, but also from their peers. Hence,
when students review and reflect on their learning processes together, they can pick up strategies
and methods from one another.
