Dear School Administrator:

My name is Nina Maloney and I am seeking a position in your school as an elementary teacher.
My interest in elementary education began many years ago when I was a preschool teacher,
and it has grown with all the experiences I have had since then.

My first teaching experience lasted 9 years at St. Mark Preschool. I taught 3-,4-, and 5-year-old
children. In the summer months, I also organized and taught camps for preschoolers. I
especially liked working with the 4- and 5-year-old children that were getting ready for
kindergarten. Teaching them the skills they would need to be successful in kindergarten was
very rewarding for me.

Before moving to Madison, I lived in Burnaby, British Columbia with my family. While I could not
work in Canada, I spent my free time volunteering at the local elementary school. I helped in
the classroom, worked on fundraisers, and helped run a book fair.

Before I began my student teaching this semester, I worked as a paraprofessional in the special
education room at Madison High School. I worked with students of varying abilities in several
different classes. Through my work, I learned the importance of building relationships with
students.

Since the beginning of January this year, I have been a student teacher at Madison Middle
School. I taught 8th grade math, language arts, and classes in social emotional learning. This
experience taught me the importance of careful planning, classroom management, and time
management.
