1. What is synthesis? Combining multiple sources and ideas, using
information obtained to create new ideas based on analysis of what you’ve
read
2. How are summarizing and synthesis different? In summarizing you gather
key points in one source for individual sources, synthesizing requires the
gathering of main ideas presented in multiple sources and adding one’s own
analysis
3. What should you do to create a successful synthesis? Have organization,
which can be obtained through a synthesis matrix chart. Take note of sources
relationships; are they in agreement or disagreement and analyze if any
questions are being raised.
