I. On the line provided, write I if what you’re reading is an independent clause


and write S if what you’re reading is a subordinate clause.

IV. Adverb Clauses. Underline the adverb clause in each sentence below.

26. If you read Emily Dickinson’s poetry, you would be moved by that woman’s
genius.
27. Although he liked pizza, he loved chocolate even more.
28. We dance our hearts out whenever we play our record albums.
29. My sister fell asleep while she was studying for her history exam.
30. Let’s go get pizza after you’re sister finishes her tennis game.

V. Noun Clauses. Underline the noun clause in each sentence below.

31. The man from whom we rented bikes was most helpful.
32. What we found was a nail in the tire.
33. The woman at the bike shop knew that she could fix the tire quickly.
34. We strongly suspected that the cat was the thief.
35. What you eat affects your health.

VI. Label the following as either an Adjective Clause (Adj.), an Adverb Clause
(Adv.), or as a Noun Clause (N.). (Hint: If you can substitute “it” for the clause,
then it may be a noun clause. Look to see what kind of clause it is in this order:
Adjective, Noun, Adverb.)
