Oxygen sensor will typically generate about 0.9V when the fuel mixture is rich, and 0.45V when
the air fuel mixture is balanced at 14.7:1. When there is no fluctuation in voltage while increasing
or decreasing engine Idle, RPM or air-fuel mixture ratio changes, it is an indication that the sensor
could be lazy or faulty. The recommendation should be to replace the sensor

DTC’s are automotive computer codes stored by the on-board computer diagnostic system (OBD)
in a vehicle. These codes are intended to help determine the root cause of the failure. The
diagnostic codes that are required by law on all OBD-II systems are standardised and all vehicle
manufacturers use the same common code list. For systems like ABS, manufacturers can make up
their own DTCs and they are not obliged to give code access to non-proprietary scan tools (though
many do).

b.

1. Locate the data link connector (DLC) and connect the scan tool to it.

2. Without starting the engine, switch on the scan tool, and the ignition.

3. Set up communication between the scan tool and the vehicle.

4. Retrieve and record the DTCs.

5. Search DTCs' definitions in codebooks or in the manufacturer's service

information.

6. Interpret the results.

7. Switch off the scan tool and the ignition. Disconnect the scan tool.
