In my short life, there are many experiences that could qualify as life changing. Every new
experience was, at one time or another, the first experience. For good or bad, each instance changed
the course that my life has taken. But writing a journal has been the most transformative experience
so far for me.

Journaling helped me in properly managing my time and actively practice positive self-talk

and combat negative thoughts. My one behaviour that I wanted to improve upon managing my
anxiety and stress level whenever I faced a stressful situation. The act of taking pen to paper helped
me relax and manage anxiety. By getting my thoughts down on paper, I gained a deeper
understanding of the causes of my internal conflicts, while I also explored the external challenges.
My problems, fears, and concerns came to the surface, and I started addressing them and visualizing
solutions and this made me calm and I believe, improved my mental health as well.

Journaling helped me in understanding my triggers towards a certain situation and how to deal with
them. This helped me in self-awareness and self-discovery, and I got to know myself better and
develop a deeper understanding of my reactions, strengths, and weaknesses, as well as what
environments helped me thrive. This helped me in making my goal more real and motivated me to
achieve it. I was able to not only craft a specific goal, but also monitor my progress as I take steps
toward accomplishing that goal. I was also able to channel my creative energy into expressing
myself, reducing anxiety, and solving problems. Recording my day helped me release my emotions
and stress by transferring my thoughts and frustrations onto paper thereby relieving tension and I
also had the opportunity to step back, reread my entries, gain a different perspective and find
solutions to problems instead of panicking in the future.

The journal exercise also provided me with some insightful information like the time when I felt
relaxed the most and I was able to draw conclusions based on the same. Regular meditation sessions
and sleep at proper timings helped me a lot and I plan to follow the same timetable in the future as
well. Asking my roommate to pint out my weaknesses also helped me a lot in self – reflecting and
correcting my mistakes and this is asking for feedback is another thing which I would implement
going forward. Lastly, I observed that reading articles related to HR Analytics calmed my mind and
made my day productive, therefore, I will also try to inculcate in myself reading habit as it calmed
me significantly during the past 30 days.

I’ve always felt I excel in controlling my emotions. The skill of effectively communicating my thoughts
and feelings through words and expressions seemed to come easily to me but I was wrong and
journal writing made me realize how much I was panicking and getting anxious and letting others
take control of my thoughts and feelings and helped me in tackling the same. Writing journal daily
not only helped me in understanding my shortcomings but also helped me in feeling, relaxed, calm
and fulfilled with the daily goals that I had set for myself. In the end, I would say that, writing a
journal seemed like an easy task to me but daily journal writing helped me to identify my issues and
deep dive into the reasons behind those issues and come up with effective as well as efficient
solutions as well.
