Q.1 Trace the origin and discuss the evolution of International Law with
special reference to expansion of its scope and application to new
subjects / objects.

Q.2 Is International Law a law? Give arguments for and against and
quote examples of its enforcement through the UN organs.

Q.3 Enumerate and explain the sources of International Law as


prescribed in Art 38 of the Statute of International Court of Justice.

Q.4 Describe the procedure for making treaties and explain the
circumstances, when a treaty may be terminated.

Q.5 Explain the theories of recognition and discuss/differentiate


between recognition of states and governments.

PAKISTAN’S ECONOMY AND FOREIGN TRADE

Q.1 a) Differentiate between Balance of Trade and Balance of 10+10


Payments. 20
b) Explain factors that adversely affect the Balance of Payments
position of Pakistan economy.

Q.2 Privatization is a complex exercise with multifaceted implications


and should be conducted with a number of caveats. Briefly 20
discuss the process with reference to Pakistan and provide
detailed arguments for and against it in light of these caveats.

Q.3 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Pakistan is considered a vital


source of external capital flows to meet the saving-investment 20
and export-import gaps. Briefly review the overall impact of FDI
inflows into Pakistan’s economy, followed by a discussion on
how Pakistan’s FDI strategy can be strengthened.

Explain the nature of external and internal indebtedness and a 20
possible exit strategy

significance of economic and cultural diplomacy as diplomatic tools
of the 21st century.

national stakeholders in foreign policy formulation and
implementation.

Q.5 Discuss steps involved in the recognition of a state, establishment


of diplomatic relations, opening of a resident mission and
appointment of an ambassador.

the subject of derision and criticism. Evaluate his role and influence
in the UN system.

Q.3 Peacekeeping is an innovation which the UN is employing with


increasing frequency. Discuss its evolution, scope and effectiveness.

Q.4 The Charter of the United Nations confers on the Security Council
the "primary" but not exclusive responsibility for the maintenance
of international peace and security. Discuss the role of the General
Assembly and the Security Council in this field.

Q.5 What is Nuclear Supplier Group (NSG)? Describe the controversy


regarding Non-NPT states joining this Group.
