About This Manual
Purpose
This manual provides the hardware information for the ZXDSL 9806H Full Service Access
Platform.

Intended Audience
This document is intended for engineers and technicians who perform operation and
maintenance activities on the ZXDSL 9806H Full Service Access Platform.

Prerequisite Skill and Knowledge


To use this document effectively, users should have a general understanding of network
technology. Familiarity with the following is helpful:
l The ZXDSL 9806H system and its various components
l Maintenance procedures

1.1 Configuring the In-Band NM


Abstract
Perform this procedure to manage the ZXDSL 9806H through the NetNumen NMS in
in-band NM mode.

Prerequisites
Before this operation, make sure that:
l The network devices and connections are proper.
l The ZXDSL 9806H works properly.
l You have logged in to the ZXDSL 9806H through HyperTerminal or Telnet.

Context
The in-band NM is implemented through the service channel (uplink port). It is usually
used in practical engineering.

Steps
1. (Optional) Configure the in-band MAC address.

By default, each ZXDSL 9806H has a sole in-band MAC address. To configure the
MAC address, use the mac inband command.

2. Configure the in-band NM VLAN.


9836(config)# add-vlan 100

3. Configure the NM VLAN uplink port.


9836(config)# vlan 100 7/1 tag

4. Configure the in-band NM IP address.


9836(config)# ip subnet 192.168.1.10 255.255.255.0 100 name wangguan

The out-of-band and in-band NM IP addresses cannot be in the same network
segment.

5. Configure the NMS IP address.


9836(config)# snmp-server host 10.61.84.66

6. (Optional) Configure the SNMP community.


The default communities on the ZXDSL 9806H is public and private. To configure other
community, use the snmp-server community command.

7. (Optional) Enable the trap function.


By default, the trap function is enabled on the ZXDSL 9806H. To enable the trap
function, use the system trap-control command.
8. Configure the default route.
9836(config)# ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.254

9. Save the configuration data.


9836(config)# exit
9836# save

Result
You can manage the ZXDSL 9806H through the NetNumen NMS in in-band NM mode.

1.2 Configuring the Out-of-Band NM


Abstract
Perform this procedure to manage the ZXDSL 9806H through the NetNumen NMS in
out-of-band NM mode.

Prerequisites
Before this operation, make sure that:
l The network devices and connections are proper.
l The ZXDSL 9806H works properly.
l You have logged in to the ZXDSL 9806H through HyperTerminal or Telnet.

Context
The out-of-band NM is implemented through the MGT port on the main control card. It uses
the non-service channel to transmit the management information so that the management
channel and the service channel are separated. It is usually used in local management.

1.3.1 Creating an NE
Abstract
After creating an NE, you can manage the NE on the NMS, including topology, fault,
performance, and database.

Prerequisites
Before this operation, make sure that:
l The NM database is started.
l The NMS is started.
l The NMS client is started.
l The in-band or out-of-band NM IP address is configured on the ZXDSL 9806H.
l The NMS communicates with the ZXDSL 9806H properly.

Steps
1. In the NetNumen U31 R20 Unified Management System window, right-click EMS
Server, select Create Object > Create Wireline NE. The Management-Create dialog
box appears.
2. Select the NE type (ZXDSL9806H) from the left pane.
3. On the Basic tab, configure the following parameters, as shown in Figure 1-3.
l Name: ZXDSL9806H
l Description: 10.63.156.90
l IP: 10.63.156.90
l Other parameters: default values

1.3.2 Querying the System Information


Abstract
The system information includes system name, system location, system contact, system
description, system identifier, system running time, in-band MAC address, and out-of-band
MAC address.

Prerequisites
Before this operation, make sure that:
l The NMS communicates with the ZXDSL 9806H properly.
l You have opened the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window.

Steps
1. In the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window, right-click the main control card and select
System Management > System Information. The System Information window
appears, as shown in Figure 1-6.

Prerequisites
Before this operation, make sure that:
l The NMS communicates with the ZXDSL 9806H properly.

l You have opened the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window.

Steps
1. In the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window, right-click the main control card and select
System Management > SNMP Community Configuration. The SNMP Community
Configuration window appears.
2. Click Create. The Create SNMP Community dialog box appears.
3. Configure SNMP Community, Access Level. Select Set as NMS Read Community
and Set as NMS Write Community, as shown in Figure 1-7.

Note:
It is recommended to select Set as NMS Read Community. Otherwise, the NMS
cannot access the NE.

4. Click OK.

1.3.4 Configuring a Trap Server


Prerequisites
Before this operation, make sure that:
l The NMS communicates with the ZXDSL 9806H properly.
l You have opened the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window.

Steps
1. In the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window, right-click the main control card and select
System Management > Trap Server. The Trap Server window appears.
2. Click Add. The Add Trap Server dialog box appears.
3. Configure Trap Server IP. Select ZTE NMS Server and Expected Minimum Event
Level, as shown in Figure 1-8.

4. Click OK.

1.3.5 Configuring the Time


Prerequisites
Before this operation, make sure that:
l The NMS communicates with the ZXDSL 9806H properly.
l You have opened the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window.

Context
The ZXDSL 9806H works as an SNTP client and synchronizes time with an SNTP server
through the SNTP.

Steps
1. In the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window, right-click the main control card and select
System Management > Time Management. The Time Management window
appears.

2. Configure NE Time, Time Zone Offset, and SNTP Server Parameters, as shown in
Figure 1-9.

Steps
1. In the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window, right-click the main control card and select
System Management > Version Management. The Version Management window
appears, as shown in Figure 1-10.

2. Upload versions to the NMS.


a. On the Version tab, click Upload to NMS. The the Upload to NMS dialog box
appears.
b. Select FTP Type and version files, as shown in Figure 1-11.

c. Click Start.
3. Download versions to the NE.

a. On the Version tab, select Download To NE, and click Batch Execute. The
Download To NE dialog box appears.
b. Select FTP Type and Start Time.
c. On the Select Versions tab, select version files, as shown in Figure 1-12.

d. On the Select NEs tab, select the NE, as shown in Figure 1-13.

1.3.7 Managing the Configuration Data


Prerequisites
Before this operation, make sure that:
l The NMS communicates with the ZXDSL 9806H properly.
l You have opened the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window.

Steps
1. In the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window, right-click the main control card and
select System Management > Backup/Restore NE Configuration Data. The
Backup/Restore NE Configuration Data window appears, as shown in Figure 1-14.

2. Click Test to test the connection between the NE and the FTP server.
3. Managing the configuration data.
l On the Backup tab, select the specified configuration file and click Execute to
back up the file.
l On the Restore tab, select the specified configuration file and click Execute to
restore the file.

Prerequisites
Before this operation, make sure that:
l The NMS communicates with the ZXDSL 9806H properly.
l You have opened the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window.

Steps
1. In the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window, right-click the main control card and select
System Management > CLI User Configuration. The CLI User Configuration
window appears.

2. Click Add. The Add CLI User dialog box appears.


3. Configure User Name and Password. Select User Access Level, as shown in Figure
1-15.

2.1 Creating VLANs


Abstract
Before provisioning services, you can configure a VLAN or a batch VLANs according to
the global configuration plan.

Prerequisites
Before this operation, make sure that:

l The NMS communicates with the ZXDSL 9806H properly.


l The VLAN to be created does not exist.
l You have opened the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window.

Context
A VLAN is a group of hosts with a common set of requirements that communicate as if
they were attached to the same broadcast domain, regardless of their physical location.
The ZXDSL 9806H supports 4k VLANs.

Steps
1. In the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window, right-click the main control card and select
VLAN Configuration. The VLAN Configuration window appears.
2. Click Create. The Create Static VLAN dialog box appears.

3. Configure Start VLAN ID and End VLAN ID, as shown in Figure 2-1.

The default VLAN name is VLAN + VLAN ID.

2.2 Configuring VLAN Global Parameters


Prerequisites
Before this operation, make sure that:
l The NMS communicates with the ZXDSL 9806H properly.
l You have opened the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window.

Steps

The ZXDSL 9806H limits ADSL port rates through ADSL line profiles.
l The default ADSL line profile is DEFVAL.PRF, which cannot be deleted or modified.
l When the rate mode is the fixed rate, the maximum rate must equal to the minimum
rate.
l The configuration of SNR margin must follow the following rule:
Minimum SNR margin ≤ target SNR margin ≤ maximum SNR margin

l The default ADSL alarm profile is DEFVAL.PRF, which cannot be deleted or modified.
All alarm thresholds in DEFVAL.PRF are 0, which means the ZXDSL 9806H does not
monitor the ADSL lines and channels.
l An ADSL alarm profile defines alarm thresholds for ADSL lines and channels. When
the statistics reach the thresholds, the ZXDSL 9806H reports alarms to the NMS.

Abstract
The multicast service uses one or multiple multicast VLANs to separate itself from other
services. Only when a subscriber port is configured in an MVLAN, the subscriber can view
the programs in the MVLAN.

Prerequisites
Before this operation, make sure that:
l The network devices and connections are proper.
l The NMS communicates with the ZXDSL 9806H properly.
l You have opened the ZXDSL 9806H NE Rack window.
l The corresponding VLAN is configured.
l There is a multicast source in the network.

The voice service configuration management involves the following configuration items:

8.1.1 Overview
Service Description
VoIP service refers to the voice communication service that is transported over Internet.
After compression, digitalization, encoding, and packetization, the analog voice signals
are transmitted as Internet Protocol (IP) packets over an IP packet-switched network. The
cost of the voice service is reduced.

Service Specifications
The ZXDSL 9806H provides the voice access service through a voice service card. Table
8-1 lists the service specifications of voice service cards.

a. In the Rack window, right-click the control and switching card. Select Port VLAN

b. Click MG Configuration. The MG Configuration dialog box appears. Configure


the parameters on the Basic Attribute tab and the Capability tab. Figure 8-10

5. Configure MGC.
a. In the Rack window, right-click the voice service card. Select Voice Service
Management. The Voice Configuration Management window appears, as

The system can implement VoIP service access through the Session Initiation Protocol
(SIP). This section describes how to configure VoIP service access based on the SIP.

Context
The default protocol for the ZXDSL 9806H is the H.248 protocol.

This configuration is applicable for switching the H.248 protocol to the SIP or switching the
SIP to the H.248 protocol.

1. Modify the protocol license.
a. In the Rack window, right-click the voice service card. Select Voice Service
License Configuration. The Voice Service License window appears, as shown
in Figure 8-21.

2. Delete the narrowband users.
a. In the Rack window, right-click the voice service card. Select Port Manager. The
Port Management window appears.

The quantity of users depends on the quantity of really configured narrowband
users. By default, the ZXDSL 9806H supports 256 narrowband users.

c. Click OK.
3. Save data and reboot the system.
4. Create the digit map.

a. In the Rack window, right-click the voice service card. Select MG Management >
Digit Map Configuration. The Digit Map Config window appears.
b. Click Create. The Create Digit Map Config dialog box appears.

c. Select SIP from the Type drop-down list. Enter 19821010 in the Body text box,
as shown in Figure 8-23.

d. Click OK.
5. Create the SIP proxy server.
a. In the Rack window, right-click the voice service card. Select SIP Management
> SIP Proxy Server Configuration. The SIP Proxy Server Config window
appears.

b. Click Create. The Create SIP Proxy Config dialog box appears.
c. Enter 1 in the ID text box. Select User IP from the Type drop-down list. Enter
10.63.198.252 in the IP Address text box, as shown in Figure 8-24.

6. Create the SIP agent.
a. In the Rack window, right-click the voice service card. Select SIP Management >
SIP User Agent Configuration. The SIP User Agent Config window appears.

c. Enter 10.63.198.252 in the Domain Name text box, as shown in Figure 8-25.

the MGCP to the H.248 protocol.

Steps
1. Modify the protocol license.

a. In the Rack window, right-click the voice service card. Select Voice Service
License Configuration. The Voice Service License window appears, as shown

The quantity of users depends on the quantity of really configured narrowband
users. By default, the ZXDSL 9806H supports 256 narrowband users.

MG Configuration. The MG Config window appears, as shown in Figure 8-31.
