Document Development Exposition: White Paper

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
The major obstacle faced when planning my White Paper was choosing a topic with enough
information to write thoroughly on. As desertification is such a broad issue, it was a challenge to find
and narrow down information into a format that made sense. Thankfully, I was able to find enough
information on the issue I had chosen.

First Draft (for peer editing)

I feel that the text included throughout my first draft was appropriate for the topic of discussion,
however I was still unsure of the consistency of my formatting and use of images throughout the
document.

Second Draft (for your packet)

My peers’ feedback gave me a better grasp of what was missing from my White Paper. I decided to
revise some of my formatting choices, increasing the consistency of the color and style of headings I
had present. Along with this I made headings more descriptive of the information to follow and
added more images to help readers gain a visual understanding of the topics that were discussed.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

I edited some of the content of my paragraphs to better follow the standards of the assignment. I
was also instructed to format my document with block style. I revised the formatting of my images
as well and made sure to reference the images used in the paragraphs where they were discussed. I
learned a lot throughout the revision process on the correct formatting for a document like the
White Paper.
