Essay 1 Reflection

In 1301 I learned how to identify peer reviewed articles and how to cite those articles. In 1301

we learned about different genres in writing and how to apply them. I did not use genre in this

first essay since it was a personal experiment type of essay. Some things I learned in this essay

that can apply to other courses are how to conduct and carry out an experiment and how to do

research on a topic. Something I do not think I will use in other courses is the informative tone

that was needed for this essay. The creation of this experiment and how I had to write about it

helped me improve my writing in the way that I had to write the essay in a third person point of

view. I also had to explain the experiment in an informative way. On this first essay one of my

weaknesses was that my thesis was not clear when in 1301 i never had a problem with my thesis

statements. The most challenging aspect of this essay was trying to find peer reviewed articles

that supported your claim. The least challenging was the experiment itself; it was a really easy

and straightforward experiment.
