Does technology always make people’s lives better?
Nowadays, it would be almost impossible for people to imagine a world without technology, and although we might rely on it too much sometimes, it has definitely made our lives better. First of all, technology has brought a huge variety of advances, especially in the scientific area. For example, the Internet has been created, new medical treatments have been developed, as well as the man has gone on expeditions to space. Furthermore, it has made everything easier, such as housework activities and communication. What is more, it has allowed the “home office” modality of work, for what people can now both educate themselves and earn money from home. On the other hand, undoubtedly, technology has made us lazier human beings. As there is a technological device for almost everything, people tend to be too dependent on it. For instance, some would stop going to libraries and search information online, while others would never walk to work, and instead drive a car just for a few blocks. Apart from this, the creation of social networks has a negative impact on social relationships because the face-to-face conversation is constantly being replaced for chatting or video calls. All in all, I consider that technology generally makes our lives better, especially because it allows new human discoveries to take place, and, even though it is true that societies should have a responsible use of it, it has allowed us to save our valued time.
