Mark thought it to be rather odd. because ‘Marlie always answered his phone calls. This was no less than a dream. Peering at their newest discovery they recalled stories told of the ancient past of the planet where volcanoes were able to erupt for millions of years unabated. It was known that a single hotspot could dump molten rock on the surface for millennia because Mars lacks plate tectonics. But, Mars’ surface is believed to be much different than it was billions of years ago. As they stood there looking at the surface they saw that it was dotted with impact craters. Most of these craters were still intact because there are no environmental forces to erode them. The planet lacks the wind, rain, and plate tectonics that cause erosion back home on Earth. Also the atmosphere is much thinner than Earth’s so smaller meteorites are able to impact the planet. The astronauts maintained their distance even though the data retumed by rovers and orbiters, several months before their arrival, had shown that there are many minerals and erosion patterns on the planet that indicate liquid water in the past. They were now certain that the last vestiges of that water, are trapped as water ice below the surface. Indeed they were transfixed by the wondrous sight in front of them. Solutions to Question 7: The following is a sample of an excellent argument FOR the use of cellular phones in school Cellular phones are the newest fad and ‘many children feel that they must own one and most of them do. With this increase of children owning cell phones, teachers are finding that more cellphones are being brought inside the classroom, They find that aside from being a telephone, they may now include a camera, a radio, a video recorder and an internet browser. (One of the most important points is that students can use cellular phones to do the very basic, yet extremely essential, task of keeping in touch with their families. In today's environment where crime and violence are rife it is knowing that parents can be in constant contact with their children that keeps them contented throughout the day. Which parent would not like to know that he or she can track their child’s whereabouts? Another impacting use of the cellular phone is the completion of school projects and portfolios — whether they are oral or written. With most phones being outfitted with camera and video recorder, students are able to make their assignments more _compre- hensive, interactive and attractive. These features of the cellular phone also make teaching and learning more interesting and effective for both teachers and students. No longer do students need to take a hard copy of a dictionary to school - they simply browse the internet to find word meanings. In addition they can conduct detailed researches online right in the class by just using their cellular phones. Cellular phones ought to be allowed in schools for they are useful tools that can enhance the teaching and learning process. Solutions to Question 8: The following is a sample of an excellent argument, Some popular music and dance that are on display in the Caribbean are Soca, Dancehall, Rhythm and Blues (R&B) and American rap. It is felt by some that such music and dance are corrupting the youth and making them www.getmylocker.com @= irresponsible. As far as I am concerned the youth are not all irresponsible and for those who are it is not the popular music and dance that make them so. Instead it is lack of parenting, lack of correct sex education and lack of adequate academic opportunities that create irresponsible youth. A survey carried out in 2014 by the Ministry of Youth in Jamaica revealed that 80% of children between the ages of 10 and 18 years old were living with one or no parent due to death and or migration. As such many children were living with older siblings or other members of the extended family. Therefore they were not being adequately supervised and were not being taught correct and acceptable principles and morals. They often behaved irresponsibly because they had no proper guidance. SAMPLE TWO Turtles found in the sea have been around for a very long time and are now under threat of extinction, Their number has decreased drastically over the last ten years because of both man— made and natural threats. Man-made threats include pollution, fishing and coastal development and natural threats include predators and beach erosion. Not only do eggs take a long time to hatch, but also they have only a slim chance of coming to maturity.
